Today the Admiral and I got almost all of the transom SS parts back in. They had started out shiny years ago, and I was able to quickly buff them up again. Most of the thruhulls are stamped "316", which is a good thing.
The pair of molded-in recesses are for the cockpit drains and are kind of...
I recently pulled what appear to be the original bronze through-hulls for the head and galley in my E25. Given their pinkish appearance, I know I must replace these 35 year old pieces of hardware. I've read many of the debates on this forum (and on others) about the advantages and disadvantages...
My E26 has 3 lines that drain through the transom. 2 are cockpit drains and 1 is for the manual bilge pump. They are 1 1/2" nylon. Twenty three years of UV have caused them to crack on the inside along the bottoms. This causes them to leak into the bilge-whenever it rains.
Has anyone figured out...
My new-to-me E27 has gate valves. Could be the originals I suppose. They'll need to be replaced. I've been reading through the messages here about thruhulls, gate valves, and seacocks. As I understand it, thruhulls and seacocks connect with a straight thread (NPS), while one of the issues...
I'm trying to clean up the hose runs and cockpit scuppers on the 35-2 in rehab and wondering where the hoses connect. The P.O had everything connected to 1.25" drain close to the keel just behind door that accesses under the cockpit.
Can you kind folks offer some clues as to how the 4...
I started this new thread to discuss thru-hull bonding instead of highjacking the Forespar Seacocks thread.
The way I understand it the bonding does create a battery but this is a good thing. The less noble metal in the bonding chain, the sacrificial zinc, is consumed instead of anything...
I'm installing all new instruments and will be putting new holes in the bottom for the new speed and depth transponders. I don't know what to do with the old holes. I suppose I could just leave the old transponders in there, but I'm trying to keep the bottom as smooth as possible. Any ideas...
Hello All,
I tore into my '83 E38 in preparation for spring yesterday. I didn't care for the looks of several seacocks so I pulled them all today. Here is what I found:
7 total seacocks, ball valves/thru-hulls really, not the flanged seacock. 4 of them under the starboard/aft section of...
i can crawl around the boat and make notes.. i'm sure
i will... but it would be extremely helpful here, if somebody
who has already changed out all of the stock through hulls/
gate valves on an E25 were to list out the necessary replacement
SEACOCKS, HOSES, FITTINGS, etc... also TOOLS...
