Hi! Hilda Harris E28 and Eden E30+ just had a meeting last week on this very subject, although we both like Pulsebo
(land of the Vikings) Port Townsend is easiest for us. We will attend either Our Eden has 45 hrs on her rebuilt engine,
newer sails and new upholstery and we,ve just put in two more drawers , hey that fourteen now. Even more convenient
we will go to either or any place you choose

Chas and Judi PS has anyone out there owned their Ericson more than 20 years? :

We purchased our boat in the fall of 1994. Does that count?

Planning for 2015 Rendezvous

Can you tell me if the reservation has been made at Pulsbo. Looking at the Calendar at Pulsbo marina website, we are not yet listed for June 26,27,28. Only the Power Squadron is listed. I will be attending and I would like to sign up at Pulsbo marina. Thanks, old salt joseph

Hi All,

I've been in contact with the Port of Poulsbo, and they are happy to accommodate us on the weekend of June 27th-28th. The Power Squadron will also be having a gathering there that weekend, but there will be room for us as well. You may also want to check out classes they will be putting on.

Please don’t delay in making your reservation so that your spot is assured and close to the other Ericson folks. We will be on F-dock, towards the end of the dock (map of marina: http://www.portofpoulsbo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/PortOfPoulsbo_Marina-Map.pdf). Keep that in mind when making your reservation. Here is the reservation contact (mention you are with Ericson Yachts):

There are only 30-ft slips available, but Jannese assured me a 40-ft boat can fit no problem.

There is an “Activity Barge” that may be available that I will look into: 44’x13’ includes propane BBQ, 10’x20’ canopy and a small picnic table. I believe it is $50.

“I look forward to working with you to make your upcoming cruise to Poulsbo a successful event . Below is just a small outline of some of the activities that are popular with visiting boaters and tourists alike.
Every Saturday from April 5[SUP]th[/SUP] – December 20[SUP]th[/SUP] there is a Farmers Market. The hours are 9:00am – 2:00pm. It is located within walking distance from the marina.
You can do a mini brewery tour with the 2 downtown breweries. The breweries do not serve food however you can bring food in from any of the local restaurants. We would be happy to provide you with the names of restaurants and phone numbers.
If your group plans to have a nice dinner out I would suggest making reservations at Sogno di Vino. The upstairs area is available to reserve and it seats 75 people easily, the owner often waves the rental fee for large groups. Contact the owner Angela at amsogno@yahoo.com

I just got off the phone to Jannese Petersen @ the Port. We are assigned a slip next to Island Time.

That gal is really enthusiastic ! Whether you want info on the marina facilities, their free wifi or where the best bakery is (and when the line forms in the morning...) she is friendly and helpful.

A "viking" port for visiting "vikings" . This should be fun!

Terra Nova is signed up for the 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th. My horns are tingling! My wife, Rae Ann, will be able to make it this year!

I will be able to help but my schedule this year looks like it has been processed through a meat grinder. Absolute reliability may not be a sterling quality. I will try, though! And I had so many people tell me that retirement would be utterly boring!

Loren, perhaps you could bring forward the dropbox with the pictures from last year's excellent rendezvous at Maple Bay. It might give some people that haven't been to a rendezvous an idea of what one is like. Loren, note, Two 34's now signed up! You need to prod those other Swedish 34 owners to get signed up! The competition is on!

Hmmm.... "Prodding" those Olson 34 guys and gals could be risky...
Being in the last group of boats constructed by Ericson they may sometimes wear carbon fiber helmets with titanium horns!
You might provoke a combo platter of Grumpy and Hi Tek !

New owner signed up for June

I reserved a slip in Poulsbo for my 1988 Ericson 34 “Talpa” (ex. “Mandalay”). I just bought her earlier this week, so maybe this would be a good moment to introduce myself.


I have been lurking on this forum since 2011, when I began looking forward to my retirement and became convinced that an Ericson 35-3 or 34 would be the ideal boat for cruising the Pacific Northwest. I was living in France, working for an international intergovernmental organization. My landlocked location and constant traveling were not really compatible with boat ownership, but I did manage to charter at least once each year, usually on the Brittany or Mediterranean coasts. In addition, I did some sailing in the Arctic, including a triple-handed circumnavigation of Spitsbergen in a C&C34, an attempt at the Northwest Passage in a steel-hulled 37-footer, and a trans-Atlantic crossing. Now I am looking forward to extensive cruising in the San Juans and beyond.


I have already profited enormously from the knowledge and experiences of Ericson owners who are active on this forum, and I am especially grateful to Loren Beach and Bob Morrison for their offline advice and encouragement during the past couple of months. It will be great to meet other local skippers in June.

Carbon Fiber Helms

Oh! Carbon fiber helms. This will be interesting! I wonder how the old battle axe will do wamming them? If it won't put a decent dent in the helm, we may have to use sheer numbers. We are Vikings!

Welcome aboard Stephan! The E-34 is a great sailing boat. I usually cruise north from Port Angeles. That puts me a day trip from you across the Straights. Perhaps we can link up for a cruise sometime in the summer/fall?

Mischief Maker has been awarded slip #54. We will be there for the full week, enjoying the fireworks on the 3rd. Jessie will probably bring some Theo Chocolate, I will try to remember to bring the Apple Pie. (Easy there, Mr. Wurzner).We will arrive Friday after noon.
Had my shoulder repaired, Should be able to bend on sails this year!

Once again, I am very sorry to be missing yet another Ericson rendezvous. Those of us that head north for the summer are usually back by August when the fog rolls in. Maybe some year a rendezvous during those long Indian summer days in late August or September might appeal to the group. Poulsbo sounds like a wonderful venue, love to see it some day. Hope it is a great gathering!

Poulsbo notes

The Poulsbo marina has a booth at the Seattle boat show. I talked to Jannese at the show yesterday.
Just as friendly in person as she is on the phone!
IIRC, the marina has a LOT of transient slips for groups to use, so that putting everyone together is usually easy. They really try to do that, too.

This should be fun!
