I have no intention of using them as an everyday cap, but these look like good temps to have in case one of my caps goes into the drink.

I couldnt find a replacement (original cap)
So these seemed to work.

Sorry, but a raw bolt sticking up on a side deck is unacceptable. Every trip on a boat? Ever put your knee down? Ever have a kid running around the deck in a slip or at anchor? Don't mean to be harsh, I know deck fill caps are hard to find and this just isn't a good solution..

I've tried ordering multiple caps on line, then returning the ones with incompatible threads. If necessary, remove the current deck fitting and install a new one, which can be a chore with short, stiff hoses.

I don't think this is a controversial recommendation.

So the regular 1.5" caps I see online are problematic? Seems it should be rather simple. I ordered a couple a few days ago, but they've yet to arrive. Guess I'll find out soon.

Agree that the bolt end is hazardous. In an emergency where the sea has be kept out of the fuel or drinking water for several days it would be pretty handy to have the option, tho,

On my E28+ the fuel fill is on the combing of the cockpit nearly vertical and out of the way. The plumbers plug would be OK there, especially with the bolt trimmed shorter and peened over so the wing nut does not come off. I may get one in case I drop a standard plug into the drink.

I certainly agree that a bolt sticking out in a walkway is dangerous but my diesel fill port is not in a walkway so I plan in trying it out there only. I do see a problem with the wing nut, I plan to replace that wing nut with a regular hex nut, and in stainless too. The bolt looks like chrome plated and will soon rust so I need to think of how to replace that with a stainless bolt as well.
