Access behind Headliner E26

Mike V

Junior Member
My 1987 E26 has a headliner with out any easy access to inspect for leaks or worn hardware. I do not have any visible leaks and do not have any water in the bilge after heavy rain. My concern however is that some of the hardware such as the mast rigging under the headliner could be showing its age and I can not see it for inspection and or replacement. While i believe in the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" i dont want to find out when it is too late. Does anyone have any recommendation on how to access behind the headliner? Should i make slits and install zippers? Or should i remove the stapled trim and let a small area of the headliner drop? I am concerned with this scenario, becasuse it appears that it would be rather difficult to pull the headliner back up and re staple back tight. Not sure how to go about this one. I am open to any ideas!

Thanks

Mike
