Cabin skylight / portlight replacement glass or plexiglass??

I thought I’d check in with our local used boating supply Mike’s, and they had a used Bomar 100 series cast hatch ($80) that just makes the main cabin hatch a 139 lrg which retails for 1,200, and with sandblasting and powder coating, new Lexan, and custom frame to fit it snug will run me $450, and an ocean series flat 50 that retails for $689 but I picked it up for $175. I seriously didn’t expect to find either and found both!

I would like as many examples of replacements that people have done in this group I can see. As often is the case with our boats there are many ways to solve a single problem, and I would love to see how other Erickson owners here have replaced the skylights or whatever they are properly

How about an actual skylight, also known as a butterfly hatch. This replaced the ubiquitous teak frame / plastic top hatch seen on Ericsons
from the 70's.

I just got to say Wow! That’s beautiful woodwork! Did you build it, find it someone to build it. Either way, it’s beautiful! Mind if I ask what it weighs?? If I didn’t have a traveler with lines that would get in the way of something like that I would totally consider one. It certainly is eye-catching!

I built it. I never weighed it but it's heavy. If you like that, you might like this option for the forward hatch. Hand cut dovetails and custom
hinges.
