Have you ever sailed in O-34 with a tiller?
No such luck, although a friend of mine has one and maybe I can cage a ride sometime.
I drove a lot for a decade on our former Niagara 26 with a tiller, and a few years ago did get to drive quite often on a friend's Yamaha 33 with a tiller.
And yes, we used to contemplate changing ours back to a tiller, but as you can imagine it would take labor and money. :)

CPT update. Just had coffee with a buddy that moved from sail to power some time ago. He just finished installing a new CPT pilot on his Grand Banks 'woody'. Over the recent long weekend he put about 8 hours on it, participating in a club cruise. He loves it. He does politely correct a reference to it as an "autopilot" and much prefers to call it an "auto helm". It is not designed to interface with other instruments and he is quite happy with that. He was attracted to it by its strength & simplicity.
Anyhow, a strong recommendation from a trawler owner.

I just installed a CPT. It was easier than I expected, in part due to an amazing level of support by CPT. Instructions were clear, and when I had a question they were super-helpful on the phone (actually have been on a couple of different questions as I moved toward purchase. Never pressure to buy, just helpful discussion of what it could do in my somewhat-weird use model.)

The unit is clearly not like the Raymarine -- you cannot set a numerical heading; rather, you just tell it to 'hold heading' (and it has a tack mode, too.) The electronics appear a lot less sophisticated -- just setting a rudder gain and response deadband; nothing 'smart' here -- though I am as yet unsure whether that will matter in my use. If I do need more (fancy predictive stuff, adaptive handling in waves, or whatever) it seems (based on discussions with CPT and Pelagic, though no one has tried this) that one can control the CPT motor via a Pelagic controller, i.e. a controller of the 'very smart' algorithm variety. Separately, if one cares, a number of parts are clearly machined, as opposed to injection molded.

Anyway, I had an extremely good interaction with the company as I moved toward purchase and then was working to install. That matters, because the installation brackets are semicustom to fit your pedestal/wheel/whatever configuration, so there is a good bit of work on their part to get it right (based on a measurement form you provide) prior to shipping. They did that remarkably well, and parts were labeled very clearly for the installation process.

Aside: while installing, another boat come down the fairway and... looking over at us they said, 'hey, are you installing a CPT?' Turned out they had one too, and like theirs. Maybe there are more of these out there than I had thought.

I recently installed the CPT on my '77 Ericson 35-2 and am completely happy. My old boat had the Raymarine ST4000, but I didn't want to deal with the cost and installation hassles. My boat has a "stumpy" short pedestal + large diameter wheel, so I worked with CPT to make the configuration fut. After a short shakedown to figure out the best deadband and rudder settings I have been completely satisfied with the performance motoring, sailing downwind and in conditions up to 25 knots and significant swells. It's a gamechanger for solo sailing. Someone asked about clutch engagement in a previous post - it becomes automatic after a few tries and I have not been pinched! This unit is overbuilt, easy to install and the company is excellent to work with.
I'll post a few pics below-
