Just for the record . . . I think Seth is right on the mark regarding the center of gravity issue. I went out into my work room today to take a closer look at my centerboard (sitting on sawhorses). I was reminded that the board is MUCH heavier at its lower end, i.e., the end that lowest in the water. Unless you have an unusually strong back, the board itself is not something you want to pick up and move around by yourself any considerable distance. When two people carry it, the guy who's carrying the lower end is the one doing most of the work. I don't know if there is lead in there, but whatever it is, that's where most of the 150 lbs are.
