Were doing a refit on our just obtained E-27, In the process of cleaning I foumd what apears to be two missing keel bolts. I've seen info on this site that the bolts are for assembly only and not required when the keel is molded to the hull. I'm Looking for input on this,it dosen't seem right that there missing, but two bolts holding a ton & half of lead to fiberglass hull has some design issue's too. Now, the what if they should be replace? How is it done? Thanks MH

My '71 E-29 is similar. Surveyor pointed out two holes which look for all the world like a spot where keel bolts should be. After further investigation we discovered keel bolts completely glassed over adjacent to these two holes. Our conclusion was that the holes were somehow used during assembly of the boat and not a problem. Inspection during haul out did not indicate any problem at the hull keel joint.

The lead on encapsulated keels were placed in the hull
via overhead crane. The holes drilled on top were for
lifting eyes.
