Yes, it's a standard Raymarine wind direction/speed instrument. The display is next to the companionway. I suppose it might be better to have it on the masthead, but this way it's easy to remove for the winter and, anyway, I like knowing what the lower part of the mainsail is "seeing" since all I really care about is knowing how close I am to gybing. I don't find these instruments very useful when sailing upwind, when the telltales tell the tale.

Good to know that works. NOAA Gribs report wind speed and direction at 10 meters height, so correction factor needed.

And presumably, fewer cormorants sitting on the gear down there.
