Every time I read about a Tesla with a vegan leather interior I wonder how many vegans it takes to do a car interior.

It totally depends on the size of the vegan which usually run small because they don’t eat meat. So the answer to your question would be, “a lot of vegans.”

I don't know. I think it's a fascinating window into human nature.
Tell much of the current culture you want to sell them clothing made of petrochemical materials championed by B.F. Goodrich in the 1920s and made by DuPont to this day, and they'll flame you with #poisongarb and #treehater.
Offer them the same jacket pitched as Vegan Leather and they'll stand in line, pay double for it, and look down their nose at you for not wearing one.

Does that fact that being deceived can increase one's happiness justify the deceit?

We've been looking at re-doing cushions and the range of quality in these synthetics amazing. The high end ones really are hard to tell from real leather while the low end garbage isn't worth the money or time.
