Main Wood Hatch E32 1976

Well the ends of this have finally given way after almost thirty years of dutiful service. I checked the general discussion and did not see anyone with this exact project so I am starting to ask for the best approach.

Repair or Replace?

This is a heavey wooden (teak?) cover over the companionway. It appears the ends have come loose/unglued/unscrewed etc.

Anyone replaced this or repaired it? Change to composite?

I rebuilt my '73 E27 wooden hatch a couple of years ago. The sides were falling off, like yours. This is because the plywood base that everything was screwed into was delaminating.

I got some "bendable" plywood and covered it with West Systems epoxy to build a new base (it needs to have a slight curve). I reattached all teak pieces, put on a Cetol finish and it came out better than I thought it would (since I'm no woodworker).
