Hello All,
CaptnNero turned me on to these generators:

The smallest model has a very small footprint, 20" x 15 3/4" x 18 1/4" which is downright tiny. This would look to be a great solution for an inverter based boat. A Xantrex Freedom series 3000watt inverter/charger with Link2000 control and the Mase IS 2.5 would make a great combination. Shore power would simply not be necessary. Granted you would have to practice some "power management" but thats just common sense.

My one concern with the Mase design is the atypical air/water cooling arrangement. If it works as they say.....

Always thinking of upgrades, RT

Turning diesel into electricy...

Here is a link to a line of Kubota-based generators. I am pretty sure that I have seen one their small ones running while visiting the big spring swap meet in Seattle. It was really quiet, to my ears, anyway. They were using a tank of water to exchange heat, with the little motor sitting in the bed of a small pickup truck.

You would have to provide the sound-proof enclosure, but that might actually make installation easier in the crowded confines of your boat.

Just more food for thought.
