mast cross section shape

I want to attach a fitting to my mast that will follow the contour. Spar is probably original from 1976 - would that make it Kenyon? But even if I could find the spec for the section I'm not sure I'd trust it. Anyone know a simple way to get the shape? Since I can't afford ultrasound, I'm thinking either paper mache or plaster of paris. How is this usually done?

No ultrasound needed

For taking off simple curves like from a mast section, I prefer this high tech
tool. Rough cut some template material to size as close as you
can get it.I prefer stiff cardboard for this. Press the end of the stick firmly against the mast, scribe your line. Measure your offset, in this case 1/2" and
subtract that from your scribed line. Should get you close enough
to make a fitting. Make a template to your new line to confirm.
