A belated update on Angel's voyage:
He left Buford North Carolina Dec 2nd, 2025 with a boat buddy (Selkie).
Note: marine traffic reports his last position off North Carolina, this position was last reported Dec 2nd at 1400 and is no longer accurate.

A Coast Guard approved Sail plan was forwarded to his brother and myself for safe keeping and included a grid map with estimated waypoints.

Dec 4, 2025: Angel reports his position as 32.49 N, 074.24W
Issues: Autopilot belt broke and he is relying on his windvane for navigation.
He heaved to before dark to reef the main and slow the boat down before getting some much needed rest.

As of this morning, Dec 5 2025 at 0700, he reports his position as 32.12 N, 073.48 W.

This point is about 360–400 nautical miles east of Charleston, SC, and lies near the western edge of the Sargasso Sea, influenced by the Gulf Stream current

Location: 30.03N, 072.13W

Last evening was glorious with bright moon and stars.

A night of high winds and waves highlighted needed maintenance this morning, including a wind vane screw replacement for proper adjustment, solar Bimini loose screws, and water ingress at the chain hole that was wrapped with plastic wrapping.

roughly 790 nms to Puerto Rico.

Thanks so much for sharing. I wonder what sail combination was up? Boat looked to be moving very well.
His comments about tying up everything were spot on. :)
Angel was in good form, as usual!

Hello Loren ... I'm on 23kts / 30kts gust. But that 23 is nowhere to be seen . Goes from nothing to full blast. Like Poseidon is inhaleing and then blowing to see how the boat handles.
Sail combination is...
Full riff on the main and riff headsail 3 to 4 feet of foot. All sails short. COG is 4.5kts.
Look forward to seeing you all on the next meeting.
