Our first sail and our first CG boarding

I was once fished out of the sea by the USCG - was hanging on to semi-turtled Hobie with a punctured/flooded pontoon and broken mast in 40kts gusting 50 and 10 - 15 ft breaking seas 3+ miles offshore in the dark. They can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. OK to raise my taxes and give them more money.

Jeff,

Did you motor up north ? I assume yes if you went at night.

-Sven

Yes, I mostly motored at night, made the best headway that way. I really hate motoring and putting that many hours on my 1984 8hp Yanmar. I did get about a 2 hour reach sailing from Newport to Long Beach. If and when I do it again I would like to try to get a reach from Pt. Loma to Catalina and then sail across to home port in Pedro. If conditions are right, I understand it's possible.
