It's a good time to think about the Where and When for summer of 2025. I hope some "Salish Sea" members will consider arranging a place and settling on a date.

Seattle's Corinthian Yacht Club just posted a draft 2025 cruising schedule. (pic.), and although there doesn't seem to be a Salish Sea summer destination, thought folks might like to know.
Also, under CYC flag, we "raced" each Friday evening during "Sailfest." https://www.styc.org/Sailfest (no record of who started, place, times, or who finished....relaxed racing and excellent for crew training).
Crew and I may be game for Salish Sea rendo, if we can swing it....and incorporate it into some summer exploring (especially, if I could leave boat somewhere's (PM me with any ideas/possibilities/moorage swaps).

I selfishly prefer a late June or July weekend, just because it works well for us few who transit up the WA coast to get there. If you do a quick search on this site for rendezvous info you will see a variety of dates/destinations that all worked well. From Olympia up to Point Roberts and out to Pt Angeles, you have a lot marinas to consider...

We handed off the banner to Brass Dragon. Hoping they’re doing well, and we look forward to attending once again.

OK, a little late to the discussion. Yes, as the lone representative from south of the border at the very fun 2024 rendezvous, we received the banner and wonderful mermaid. If anyone would love to take on the 2025 event, I would gladly pass it on at this point. Otherwise, We will push on ahead.

1. I am ready to hear recommendations for dates. Seems recently these have been mid-late July. July18-20 and July 25-27 would fit that profile. Both have reasonable tides but 18-20 looks slightly better. Is there an argument for another date than these?
Please vote and feel free to share comments or arguments.

2. In 2023 we were at Deer Harbor. I like Deer Harbor. I have been to a Bob Perry rendezvous at Port Ludlow which was nice too. Fisherman Bay on Lopez is not bad once you get through the shallow entrance. I would like to hear your thoughts about other spots also. Roche Harbor, Friday Harbor, LaConnor, come to mind. I also like Port Townsend/ Point Hudson.

Tell us what you like or dont like about these or other options.

I guess we will see in a week or two.

All good choices, imho. The EY group has been to Point Hudson Marina several times in past years. Pt Hudson also had a good facility on shore with showers and a laundry. Be sure to get a firm commitment for keeping Ericson boats together in a group of slips. Nice meeting room, too. We all enjoyed an enthusiastic rigging seminar by Brion Toss. He has passed on, but the rigging business remains there.
They are probably booked up way ahead, so you will need commitments from attendees well ahead of time; of course that's not unusual for most marinas in "high season".

Port Ludlow is a nice place to visit, also, as well as Roche Harbor. We have enjoyed visits to all those.

I would advocate for Port Angeles YC, also, but hear rumors that many central and south sound sailors think it's a little too far to go. (?)
Perhaps you can put up a new thread with a destination poll?.... and another poll for which weekend. :geek:

Of the recent US-side rendezvous (rendezvouses?)... i liked Deer Harbor, and I liked Cap Sante in Anacortes. Plenty of dock space in both, tie-breaker might be that the Cap Sante marina is walking distance to a whole variety of things (restaurants, shops, groceries, West Marine...).

Point Hudson is one of my favorite spots, but to make that work we'd need to sort out attendance and dates pretty quickly, it's a relatively small marina and July is busy for them. Ludlow is probably easier and they're really good about arranging group reservations. On the flip side.... I'm not personally a fan of Roche - too busy, too noisy and the odds (IMO) of getting a cluster of slips together is pretty low. They've gone to a weird reservation system. Note, too, the customs station at Roche Harbor is no longer staffed, but Canadian boats can clear into the US at Roche using the CBP "roam" app on their phones and/or provided iPads at the self-serve kiosks at the Customs booth on the dock.

Other options? I love Rosario, quiet little marina. The "property" is going through a bunch of drama which probably won't end soon (somebody made a deal to buy the mansion and surrounding grounds, and then ran out of money, so it's headed for the courts and probably won't be open anytime soon) BUT, the marina is still operating as normal and in July 2024 (the height of their crazy-busy season) the marina was pretty deserted. Maybe an option.

I've never had the boat to Port Angeles, but would have no qualms about giving it a try. It's no further (distance-wise) for the south-sound boats than the San Juans, and might actually be slightly easier for the BC-based Ericsons. And, bonus points, maybe we could get @supersailor to join us?

Last.... we've been musing for years about doing a rendezvous somewhere farther down the Sound. Could this be the year we finally do it? Kingston? Port Orchard? Bremerton? Poulsbo? Heck, Everett has 16 double-wide guest slips right in a row, with a whiskey-bar right at the top of the guest-dock and a bunch of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

Edited to add: and the Milltown Sailing Association runs casual friday-night races out of Everett in the summertime. No entry fee, awards and pot-luck at the club afterwards. It might be fun to flood one of those with a bunch of visiting Ericsons!
