Recommendations for a night or two in Olympia

Thinking about slipping down to Oly (from Gig Harbor) for a night or two before summer is out. Any recommendations on marinas, destinations, do's or don'ts?

We've used Swantown Marina a couple times. It is further out and on the east waterway. The two closer to town on the west side are reported to be nice, more convenient and perhaps a little less safe from the public traffic. Call ahead, just to make sure there is room, regardless. We like the town and there are good restaurants and a few brewpubs. Fish Tale Brew Pub has been great in the past. Our favorite Italian place closed when the chef/owner retired a couple years ago. There is also a farmer's market Thursday thru Sunday. It's next to the Anthony's and closer to Swantown than the downtown area. Have fun.
