My standard rig E-29, which I bought 6 weeks ago, has a boom of 10' instead of the 12 ' boom (it was replaced about 20 years ago after the original boom broke). As I'm planning to get a new mainsail, I would like to know if e-29 owners in the SF Bay Area feel like they are easily overpowered. If so, that might be a reason to stick with the smaller boom/smaller mainsail.
I'm sailing my boat a fair amount singlehanded and have a traveller set up on the cabin-deck, which makes it very easy to handle the mainsheet when sailing by myself. I'm not quite sure if I can keep this set-up when the boat will have a 12' boom.
