starter remove and replace question.

My mechanic installed my M-25XP engine in our 1987 Ericson 32-3 after removing it to replace the transmission and the injectors. He got it running, back in the boat and installed on new mounts, then disappeared on me. He didn't hook up the starter wires, not sure about what wires go to starter and where. I know it's a simple system but want to be certain.

Yeah, it's pretty simple. The large red cable from the battery switch goes on the large terminal bolt of the starter. On top of this, the smaller red cable (which sends power to the engine panel key switch) shares this large terminal. The yellow wire with a female spade terminal clips on the male spade terminal on the starter solenoid.

The stater and solenoid ground themselves to the engine block via metal-to-metal contact. You should already have a large black battery-type cable grounding the engine block back to the battery bank.

Kenneth,
I appreciate your concise description of the hook-ups and great photo too. These were the hook-ups I expected, but wanted to make sure. As an aircraft mechanic with 35 years plus experience maintaining fighters and then airliners this question is so simple it's almost embarrassing. They say the stupidest question is the one that goes unasked. Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

The Un-asked 'stupid' question is often the one that will bite me in the keister.
