Sunbrella Diaper?

So I was walking the dock at a marina in Bayfield, WI, when I saw a boat across a canal with what I can only describe as some type of Sunbrella diaper.

I guess this is just the equivalent of covering your grab rails with Sunbrella, but just for your whole stern. Sure looked silly. Can't help but wonder how much work that thing is to store and remount each time you leave the dock.

Any issues with sea lions climbing aboard? Looks better than the orange construction fencing I've seen on some boats!!

I know some Hunter owners that have made diapers for their boats to reduce waves slapping the hull as they try to sleep at the dock in the aft cabin.

The more traditional white diapers don't look quite so strange.

It looks just like the stern cover on a cold-molded sailboat that used to moor at our YC. That boat had a LPU painted hull and a clear finished reverse transom. The owner kept a cover like the one in the picture to make the varnish last longer.

Our Dark Blue Hulled 32-200 has the stern painted. Because of a West facing stern, we also have a stern cover and wouldn't do without out it.
Really cuts down on UV deterioration. Attaches with a small line on each corenr that tis to the stern horns, and a middle string that waps around the backstay. Not a problem and very pratical in hot sunny climes in some cases.

Also case a chain sewn in the bottom edge to keep it down in a breeze.
