I've been working hard to refurb my 28+ and have learned a lot about the engine. All of you who have this little engine should know the following:
The Universal 2 cylinder diesel Model 5411 is almost identical to the Model 15 which was a designation assigned in the 1983+ timeframe.
The engine is a marinized Kubota Z500 engine that was used in the B5100 tractor. The parts, excluding the Universal manifold on out are therefore, available from Kubota.
By the way, I had my starter motor rebuilt for $100 instead of buying a new one from Kubota ($453) or Universal ($493).
The best source for advice and parts I've found are Engine1.com. Ask for Cooper. This guy helped me work through engineering a new exhaust system over the phone!
