"Fresh Air"

This is an amateur attempt to document the updates, upgrades, and repairs of our Ericson-consctucted Olson 34. It was a 'fixer upper' when bought in Alameda, CA, in 1994, and trucked up to Oregon. Had the first owner kept it up properly, we could have never have afforded it.
Many of the initial repairs have been covered in Threads here, before the original site software stated allowing Blogs. Occasionally I have entered a bit of related philosophy about owning and maintaining an aging boat.
The name was chosen because, in the Beaufort Scale, a "Fresh" breeze is 17 to 21 knots, and that's a place where the Olson can start to surf readily. By the mid-20's, referred to as a "Strong" breeze, we hold onto 10 to 12.5 kts boat speed, off the wind. Our boat is hull #8, of reportedly 39 built from 1988 to 1990 by Ericson Yachts.
Like the Bruce King-designed Ericson's, we consider it a high performance cruiser. We do not race it, as we did our prior two smaller boats. We have a lot of comfort nicely designed inside of a really fast hull. :)
