I finally decided it was time to clean up the ice box covers. All in it took almost 2 weeks, and about 15-20 hours but the end result was very satisfying!
Here’s a 3 minute video time-lapse:
First Step, starting the project. I took home the small cover and started getting an idea of what I...
This is a boom tent type cover that needs no frame, heavy canvas. Has many cringles in place for proper tie down. Canvas is a bit musty but not terrible and still quite firm, 5 small holes have been patched with tape. Bow section measures 108 at bow end, 214 at mast end, 210 down centerline, 212...
…is looking pretty sad.
What's the quickest, easiest way to deal with it so that I don't have more problems later? Sand off the varnish then sand it smooth and apply tung oil? Is it safe to assume it's teak?
I don't much care how it looks. It just has to function and not deteriorate...
I've got a 1980 E-25+ and am seeking some advice for sun cover while under sail. I am fine, but my wife gets very uncomfortable in the direct sun in the cockpit during summer. We sail out of New Bedford. She has okay'd getting something to get her some shade, but I am perplexed. Traveler is...
Looking for a new mainsail cover and jib bag for my '76 E29. I currently have yellow, but was looking into dark blue to match the stripe on hull.
Also would be interested in 8 winch covers to match.

I've just bought a 1988 E-26 and need a replacement anchor-locker hatch cover. Any ideas where I might find one? Don Calcote (donc3317@gmail.com):esad:
Hi all,
I've just purchased a 1984 28+ and live in the Northeast. I'm interested in saving some $$ over the winters by investing in a custom canvas cover for winter storage, and am wondering if anyone out there happens to have a pattern/design for such a cover (or where I might find one)...
ok, what is your opinion for outside winter storage...shrink wrap or custom cover? if you suggest a custom cover, who is a reputable dealer in the detroit/toledo area?
thanks, steve
I'm planing on replacing the suncover on my genoa and am looking for a resource for material and maybe some advise on what used heavy duty sewing machines people have bought (ebay, Craigslist)to do this kind of job. My goal is to do this repair myself while gaining the tools and the knowledge...
I'm trying to locate a timing chain cover for my 1978 E35 deisel Universal model #5424. If you have any ideas let me know.

Nice picture and, as always, a good magazine.

I am looking for a used cover for my main . I have a e-27 with a boom measurement of 11' . I don't have a lot of money to pay. I could probably cut down one slightly longer if i had to. All other covers are blue.
Fame is fleeting. This could be an older "stock photo" or something shot while in the area on vacation.
Current issue of YM arrived yesterday. The actual cruising article was about a charter vacation in BC waters on another make of boat, but, the cover shot is...

HI- HAS SOMEONE WORKED ON REINFORCING THE ENGINE COVER, THATS UNDER THE COMPANION WAY STAIRS. THERE'S A SMALL 3-SIDED PIECE OF WOOD MOLDING ON THE INSIDE WHICH IS UNDERSIZED AND NEEDS BETTER...
Does anyone know of a company that makes winter storage covers for an E27? I plan on doing some deck work next year and would like to protect the investment from the Northern Minnesota winters. Thanks:confused:
I am looking for a cover for my 11 foot sailing dinghy. It seems difficult to find a company with a cover for a small sailing boat.
It is a Ranger 11 (11' length, 4' 9" beam).
All of the on-line sources seem oriented towards fishing and ski boats.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Loren
Hello all, I have an ericson 30+ 1980, the anchor locker on deck has a hole in it where the anchor chain exits, this oval shaped hole had a cover/cap over it approx. 4" X 3" in diameter, looked like stainless steel. I dropped it overboard accidentally and cannot find it! ugh!
Any advice on...
Hi Gang...
I hope all of you get back on the water soon. I see all the cold weather in most of the upper 48 and am enjoying our summer season very much down here.
The question is, The UV cover on the leach & foot of our 135 has come apart... the stitching is over 4 years old and the tropics...
Do you know if the proper sail cover length should be 10' or 10.5'?
Original Ericson boom spec says it's 10' long. So I should probably add some length to get it wrapped around the mast, right?
Can't get to the boat (for measuring) for another few weeks, and would like to get it ordered...
I'm trying to refabricate an engine cover for my '72 Mid Engine 35II - mine is pretty much destroyed by P.O. Who installed a kitchen Sink above the engine - go figure? Any suggestions or pics of members boats would be appreciated. I'm in the dark on this - and yachtworld is not proving to...
Has anyone had experience with these type of main sail covers. I'm in the market for a new main and am thinking seriously about the Mack Pack or a similar system. Thanks.

The translucient tops of the two hatch covers on my E-27 (1976, wheel version) are developing some cracks, and probably need to be replaced. I checked with my local glass store, and they said I would need Lexan, not plexiglass, as plexiglass will crack if you drill holes, and Lexan will not...
Hi Vikings,
could someone please share the patterns or any other know-how on the binnacle cover construction for their noble vessels? (Advice to go to a local canvas shop does not count as a know-how).
Thanks in advance,
Stan
:egrin: Is there anyone out there can give me some advice on replacing the sliding companionway cover on my 1972 E-35 II?
The original has been neglected by the PO and is in such a state that it cannot be brought back. I will probably have to have a new one made (at great expense) but I...
Hello All--
I just spent the afternoon recaulking all chainplates on my E-32-2. It was nice to dig out all the old caulk and not see any mushy areas.
The port side uppers have no chainplate cover on the deck, and so I measured the space. I need a cover for a 3/16" wide and 2 1/2" long...

Hello,
I own a 30+ and it is in Long Beach, CA near the Queen Mary and other very dirty and smog producing large vessels. Every time I go up to see my boat it is quite dirty and requires and hose off.
Are there custom or factory covers for this size? If so, are there any recommended...

Hi Folks:
I'm in need of recovering my steering wheel. Currently, I have it covered with three strand cotton twine using a (I think this is the correct name for it) french weave. It creates a spiral effect. Center rudder is maked with a Turk's Head.
I'd like to remove this as it has...
I want to re-bed the hatch cover hinges on my 1978 Ericson 29, but cannot access the retaining bolt ends due to the interior liner. Does anyone know how these bolts are connected below the deck? Are they likely to drop down into the void with the liner if I un-bolt them or are they fixed in...
I have a E32-200 I bought this January, and this weekend I noticed that my traveller seems to be pulling up the screwed-down cover over the top of the companionway hatch. See photo:
The visible crack in the gelcoat at the corner is present on both sides. I wonder what I should do about...
I have a jpeg file of the logo. Would like to get an iron on or the equivalent to place on the sail cover. I can print at a max of a page size which is small. What sort of commercial graphics are needed? Would a paint-on mask work? See jpeg attached
Have any of you with Dickinson propane or diesel heaters came up with a good solution for a watertight chimney cover while sailing. The basic chimney design is fine for keeping rain or spray out, but pretty lousy when you've got waves coming on the deck. It would be nice if such a cover could...
It seems as the previous owner made some adjustments to the design of the anchor locker hatch cover, that are not verry appealing. I am looking for a esed hatch cover that someone may know about. Any help will be appreciated.
Guys,
just got a new Navpod and Angleguard on our E32-3. Obviously, old cover does not fit anymore... Any good references for canvas shops that can provide a kit or a ready-made Sunbrella cover? (Not the Spinnaker shop in Palo Alto).
Thanks,
Stan & Tanya
P.S.: Sean, I know it looks...
Has anyone had a winter cover made?? I'm looking to get a cover made for my 32-3 stored in Wisconsin. I've only found one place that quoted me for a cover and frame - The TopShop. TIA
Recently, I replaced the bulb on one of the interior lights on my '86 E-30+. I replaced the (incandescent) bulb with another low-wattage one, though it appeared to be somewhat brighter and therefore made the interior light cover a bit hotter than the origninal bulb, which was designated only as...
I'm the pleased new owner of a 1984 Ericson 38, but I'm puzzled by one feature. My companionway hatch cover (some call it a turtle), into which the companionway hatch slides, has two molded-in depressions on the top. They are perhaps eight inches long, two inches wide, and two inches deep, in...
Wondered if anyone has covered a wheel with leather. I'm considering it on my 1985 32-3. I believe it's a Yacht Specialties wheel, 42 inches in diamater. I looked at some info from a company called boatleather and it looks pretty simple, but I'm always leary so anyone with experience let me...
I am in the process of installing a Balmar alternator on my 1985 Universal M25 engine. In the course of researching the mounting (on the Catalina site) I came across dire warnings about how the pre-1988 method of mounting to the bracket, which is attached to the aluminum gear case, will...
Has anyone considered covering the teak side walls (the ones with the windows) with off-white laminate (formica)? Some friends did that with their Endeavour and it really helped to update the look of the boat. I like the look of the teak but it can begin to feel like a cave because it's so...
I am looking at replacing my mainsail cover and am now considering the combo lazy jack/sail cover. The mainsail drops into the cover, which zips to encase the sail. I have seen them on Dufour and Hunter yachts and others made by UK / Neil Pryde / Sailnet’s loft.
Does anyone have experience...
