My attempts at getting away with a project for labor-only were once again thwarted. I took the lifelines off last fall with the intent of taking them home and scraping off all the old plastic coating. The turnbuckles initially wouldn't unthread, so I took the whole tangled mess of wires and...
You come in to the dock, under control, with no problems ...
Some helpful person on the dock decides to help and grabs the boat by one of the boat handles, known as stanchions, and puts their full weight into pushing it, or almost as bad, starts pulling a lifeline as hard as he can...
I am reposting to make this question a bit more clear. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the base of the lifeline stanchions on my 1990 E-28 run through a cored area or is the area beneath the stanchions solid fiberglass? I know that there is fiberglass above and below and probably a...
I own a hurricane trashed 38, 1982 vintage. What a project. The stanchions are gone and I removed the hull to deck joint and laminated the hull to the deck inside and out. as such the reinforcement points for the stanchion bases are obscured by the laminates. I am kinda looking for some pictures...
Does anyone know of a source for stanchion bases for our Ericsons. I have a 1987 34 and what I see in the WM or Defender catalog does not seem to match the origionals.
Thanks for the input.

Looking for replacement lifeline stanchion posts for my Ericson. This is the just stainless steel tube that fits into the stanchion base with two holes for the lifeline cable to pass through. Used or a source for new replacements for 1978 Ericson 30-2
Hi All
Plan on starting to repack deck hardware this fall on my E33. Read Lorens thread about the stanchion rebuild and have some questons. Did you dig out the core under the base and fill that with epoxy or did you just add a layer a layer of fg on the underside of deck? I was planning on...
A nearby Thread is discussing SS stern rails and dinghy davits and the subject of custom SS work crept in, and rather than subvert that thread any further...
It seemed best to start a new one on custom SS work, like a "fix" for bent stanchions.
Personal Rant: It has bothered me for years that...
The run between the gate and forward stanchion on my deck has always seemed kind of long, has anyone ever added an extra, and if so exactly where?
Since I am rebuilding my deck and replacing all the stanchions anyway, it would not take too much extra effort.

All stanchion bases I've seen are for mounting on horizontal surfaces. I'd like to get some for a vertical surface so we can install a pushpit on the transom as a diver boarding handhold. Do they exist ?
Thanks.

The boats is showing it age ( 1973 I think) and little corrective maintenance had been done by prior owners. Some areas around the lower chainplates ( appx 1ft w x 3ft.L)and close to several stanchions are exhibiting some minor softness. In addition, some stanchions are just leaky.. I am...
I have owned a 1976 E27 for sereval years, and always questioned Ericson's decision for not installing a lifeline stanchion between the two existing stanchions. This would be located in the area where the shrouds attach to deck, and thereby pushing lifeline outboard and creating more room to...
