Tom, I thought to follow up with you for the heck of it. The hatch in question seems to sit port of the structural member that in between the bilge and sump pump. The drain hole in the shower catch seems to have a plug. There is not switch like for the bilge pump where you can have it set to automatic or toggle for manual. I recall having one on my E 38. The manual states there being one, but I can't find. My guess is that the sump was decommissioned for some reason. However, in seeing a picture of a sole of another 34 the hatch is located exactly over where it should be if i follow the photo you send me. The flooring material is laminated and doesn't seem original, nor is the brass trim something Ericson or PS would do to my knowledge. Another curiosity is the delamination in the shower catch and the about of spider cracks. Doesn't seem to learn as I let some water sit over night. Current owner asked previous owner about location of sump but claimed ignorance and that doesn't sit right. Knowing the owner as I do and their desire to cruise next year the shower will be operational, but he will get the bug to return sole to original. Just really curious of the back story. The good news is she has a new owner happy to get things fixed up right. Thanks again Tom. It was very helpful! Matt
