I have become 1/2 owner in a Ericson 33. I am looking for any type of documented blueprints of the boats structure, including but not limited to stringers, bulkheads, stiffeners, layup schedules, ect. I have the grand oppertunity to rebed or replace all of the hardware on the boat, the wooden sole is soft in two different places and have seen one other refit of replacing this material. I will also be replacing the veneer on both the port and starboard sides of the boat located at the port lights, can someone direct me in a section of the window glazing and the aluminium frame. hese look like the same windows on another boat I have owned.

Just to ike to know what I am getting ready to dive into before I get started.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Chris,
Your request seemed better suited to its own thread, so I retitled it and moved it.
There are some active E-33 owners on this site and most of your questions are general to any Ericson from from the 80's.

There are good threads on this site for re-veneering the inside of the cabin where unchecked portlight leaks allowed rot to start. There are several prize winning threads on redoing cabin soles. A few of your construction questions may go unanswered just because you boat was built in the early 80's and that's a looooong time ago...

I hope that an owner has indeed preserved some of the plans or prints.

"Stringers and stiffeners" is another way to describe the TAFG that was glued into your hull while it was (probably) still in the mold. As to the actual layup schedule, it would be pure luck if such a document survives to this day.

You might want to shoot some pics of any problem areas and post them up here.

Best,
Loren

ps: here are a couple of good links found with a search on the word "sole".

I looked at your album on Saturday after we looked at our boat, do you have the suppliers names or the veneers and glue. What was used for the subflooring? Marine ply 1/2"?

Chris, the original cabin sole was 3/4" marine ply(no subfloor) with a thin teak and holly veneer. I used the same to replace the original. I bought it at a hardwood dealer here in Portland. With the exactly right layout I was able to do the whole boat with 2 4x8 sheets.

For the interior veneer I used wood backed teak that I purchased at Boulter Plywood in Mass. You really need to get the more expensive wood backed veneer so the glue does not bleed through and also makes a stronger bond. http://www.boulterplywood.com/

The glue is called Heat-Lock. I purchased it online at veneersupplies.com. http://www.veneersupplies.com/product_info.php?products_id=738

Hope this helps. Feel free to give me a call if you need more details. (207)221-3539.
