This is great information that I can map and plan on. I would like to reach out to you to talk more on this subject in the near future.Mark, when do you think you’ll be bringing her home? I know you asked about places to anchor along the way. Others will probably weigh in.
We tend to hop from yacht club to yacht club along the south shore of the lake, rather than drop a hook. There’s a club about every 30 miles with reciprocal privileges with free or reduced rates, and many have transient slips for the public. Near most yacht clubs, there’s also a marina at the same port, which is usually at the outlet of a river into the Lake. From Port Credit, you can cross to Wilson or Olcott, then stop at Oak Orchard, next Rochester. At Rochester, you can anchor in Irondequoit Bay, which is protected, though a little shallow at the entrance. From Rochester, you can go to Sodus Bay, which has a number of good anchorages, or go another dozen miles to FairHaven (Little Sodus) which also has protected anchorages. Next stop will be Oswego and the entrance to the canal. A good resource for info on the Lake is Ports, which gets published every year or so.
