After a stunning weekend let me add 10CC as I recalled the incredible breakthrough of rerecording Godley and Creme to create 48 voice "Choir" of the famous AHH background, Seals and Crofts, for sure Gordon Lightfoot ( Christian Island) and Bread. I was a teenager in the late 70s...makes sense.

I really like the gentle humor and pace of a couple of the songs on my Ralph Goff CD. Ralph used to post here sometimes when he sailed and E-27. Nowadays he appears to do annual trips around the USA with his camper-truck,

Fun stuff, Loren. A line in "Get On That Boat" made me think of a longtime favorite, St. Brendan's Voyage by Christy Moore

Runs the gamut: from classical, to jazz, to "Buddha Bar" channel on Pandora last weekend ("fusion of electronic sounds, lounge rhythms, and world music") - the hallmark being more relaxing, melodic atmospheric to accompany the sailing or anchoring than being the main theme. Sailing for a week with my sons next week, so there may be an edit upcoming.

As old as I now am (81), my absolute favorites still take me back to my really getting into Florida living and cruising with the then new songs by Jimmy Buffet, “Son of a Son of a Sailor” and “A Pirate Looks at Forty”. My son was 3 or 4 years old and he loved the boat and music as well…GREAT MEMORIES!

Also, during a particularly rough Gulf Stream crossing, I also felt a real kinship to the then new song by Gordon Lightfoot, “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”. It as we rode out the dark colored (almost black) high waves for hours while that song was playing on my 8 track playlist.

Jimmy belongs on a sailor’s playlist, though as I’ve gotten older I’m more a fan of his newer stuff. “Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On” were profound words of wisdom as we dealt with the impending death of a parent.

We have a decent jazz and blues assortment that gets a lot of play, but lately I’ve been on a Celtic kick, along with some of the folk music that Leo uses on Tally Ho. Wayward Jane and some of the other independent artists he highlights make some fine music.

Speaking of covers -from 1970- a favorite.
"...have another Hit, of Fresh Air..."
Since I imagine that I can remember the 60's, I might not have really been there, after all!
