Hi,

I have 2 Lewmar #48 Chrome Bronze self tail winches. Excellent mechanicaly and good chrome. One has minor pit in chrome. $2000 for the pair

Also have 2 #40 Excellent mechanicaly and very good chrome. $1100 for the pair.

Are those winches from the mid-late 80's, perchance?
I ask because the jaw design looks just like my '88 model 46ST Lewmar primaries.
Mine will accept a limited range of line sizes but not too much because the jaws are not the variable line-size grip that Bariant had a patent on in those years.

I have not done any serial# research, but I am guessing somewhere in this time frame. I bought a large lot of stuff and these were in it. Quite a bit of other things were from the 90's so ??. They are indeed fixed jaw.

I put spring jaw Winchmates on my Barient 30's and while nice I don't use much range in sizes for jib sheets so I don't think I would spend the extra $100 next time.
