What an awesome project on the deckhead, and everything else sounds great! I really like the look of my original headliner, and I can't imagine doing what you have done, but I can relate to your motivation. Access to components like deck organizers, and identifying and fixing leaks, primarily. I look forward to more of your content. In the meantime, there are a few shots of it in this video:
It's funny you mention "can't imagine" doing this to your boat. I only did the ceiling in the salon and the head. The v-berth and quarter-berth ceilings/headliners are untouched. I told myself I would do them this winter, but........ I can feel the motivation waningWhat an awesome project on the deckhead, and everything else sounds great! Well, that really is funny, because I wanted specifically to see what you did in the quarter berth (LOL). I want to remove both of my primary winches for servicing, and the port one is above the headliner and very close to the shore power cable. I can touch, but cannot see what is there. Access would be easier, but for a frozen zipper pull in that section of headliner. Apparently, there is also a cantilevered panel just forward of the winch area, whose sole purpose is to provide shape for the headliner. No doubt you will be up to challenge of maintaining access to wiring while making it all look right. It's funny you mention "can't imagine" doing this to your boat. Have you tried the vinegar in a spray bottle trick?Access would be easier, but for a frozen zipper pull in that section of headliner.
There was a fair amount of these headliner shaping boards in the salon as well. And, the quarter-berth area is even more fascinating. I wonder what I would do there.. I have thoughts. I'll wander over to this thread and tag you thereApparently, there is also a cantilevered panel just forward of the winch area, whose sole purpose is to provide shape for the headliner.
