Shore Power upgrade

I ended up building a box out of coosa which encloses the back of my existing smart plug and the new ELCI master breaker. Here is a pic of the installation. It’s a bit wider than it needed to be, but I thought the extra space inside might be handy for fitting the wires. It was actually easier to wire the ELCI outside the box and then fit it in, so the extra space wasn’t really needed.

I have it mounted very close to the galvanic isolator, which meant dismounting the isolator to install the breaker but also helps keep the breaker switch protected from accidental knocks when putting things into the lazarette.

I'm thinking if I can find the right spot to mount a B/S 3116 panel enclosure it could allow me to split my water heater from my nav station AC panel so that it can only run from shore power and everything at the nav is OK to run from the inverter. I saw one post on PKYS where they recommended installing in a place where you'll always see the LEDs to make sure you don't have reverse polarity. Have any of you with your main breakers in the lazarette found this to be a concern?

Hi Jim, we installed our ELCI in the lazarette as seen below. The LED indicators lights are easy to read from top down upon opening the hatch. This has worked well for us. We mounted ours on a sheet of starboard.

The two Victron galvanic isolators are also mounted on starboard just forward of the ELCI.
