A couple of weeks ago while my grandson was raising the main the Winch came apart and a good portion of it went into the Pacific. I'm trying to keep my boat as original as I can so I want to replace it with the Barlow 16. I know about Dan in Wilmington and Minny's in Newport, but I'm hopefull...
Hi all,
I'm looking to replace a couple of my winches on my 1977 E-29--they are all Barlow. Now I know that Barlow is no longer in business, but I know there seems to be alot of "salvaged ones" on EBay. What I'm curious about is the fact that my current ones seem to be chrome on the mast and...

I was looking around the web for a way to compare these with today's winch nomenclature. Nowadays winches are spec'd out with the final power ratio, with a 10" handle. (Or at least that's what the ads say and they never mention friction loses.)
