I have a brand new Sherwood raw water pump that is the revised model that replaces the G-908 that was original on many universal diesel motors. This one was purchased from a marine outfit in Seattle and has the Westerbeke 42175 part number tag on it. Also replaces Universal Diesel part 302837...

Everything Okay Sven?
We're planning to head back out there on Friday morning, once the fog lifts and the wind picks up a bit.
We have more boat chores to do so we'll probably once again head for the Isthmus where we can work in a relative paradise.
Anyone else ?
-Sven
We are heading over in the AM (Saturday) and hoping to get a mooring. If we can't get a can we'll try Cat harbor or anchoring if Cat reports full too.
Any suggestions for Isthmus anchoring ?
Anyone else going out ?

Catalina Zip Line Eco Tour ~ NOW OPEN ~
It opened this week.
LA Times review.
It's $89 per rider. Steeper than the canyons. :)
I think it's too expensive and not enough people will ride it to justify continuing to operate it. It will decay and fall into disrepair. Better ride it...
We'll spend part of Saturday hiking with some friends at the West end on Catalina. Any suggestions for the most scenic ones or which way to go if we want to see the buffalo ? Is the bald eagles' nest visible from any of the trails ?
Thanks,
-Sve
Any SoCals headed out to Catalina? I should be there Aug 18 -20, mostly at Isthmus. Let me know if you plan to be there too and I'll keep an eye out.

All, Just a quick note to let anyone interested know that we made somewhat last minute plans to leave for Catalina Island tomorrow morning. I'll return Thursday on the Del Rey Flyer and Marilyn will remain for another week and single hand home. So if any of you plan to be there, look for the...
I sure hope the weather cooperates. We are planning to head up to Catalina or maybe Santa Barbara Island for at least some of the days and are curious if any EY.o enthusiasts will be out there ?

A couple of weeks ago my Brother, Son and two Grandsons and I made our first trip to the Isthmas at Two Harbors, Catalina Island. We were able to sail over taking a little over four hours. The seas were choppy and made for a semi-unpleasant ride. About a mile out we lowered the sails so we could...

Catalina This Weekend.
Going to Two Harbors or Cat Harbor on Friday. Want to see the Island in all it's Spring Glory before it turns brown again in the Summer.
Stop by and say Hi if anyone else is going.:egrin:
Jeff
It took me a while to identify it, but I am pretty sure that we sighted two Sei Whales Sunday at around noon, about 10NM south of Angel's gate on my way back from Avalon. Link: http://www.acsonline.org/factpack/SeiBrydesWhales.htm
The whales looked like they had a beak and a dome-like melon, I...
Peregrine Spirit and crew will be going to Catalina for the weekend. We plan to depart SD Thursday evening and will try to get into Two Harbors on Friday. Suspect we will have a hard time getting a mooring since there is going to be a Baja HaHa rendezvous and an H&S Yachts function there. Any...
I will spend next week at Catalina at different locations. First Cat Harbor on Sunday the 22nd, possibly Little Harbor on the 23rd and then Two Harbors for the 24th & 25th, Avalon, (if I can get in) on the 26th and 27th.
This is a very loose scheduled but the long and the short of it is that...
The weather report looks good so far. The Newport to Ensenada race is on, so moorings should be available - looks like a perfect spring weekend for a trip to the Isthmus...
I'm going to try to snag a slip in Fourth of July Cove... anybody else going over?

New Catalina, Avalon Harbor Web Cam.
New to me at least. Go to this link to see what's up there today:

Use this HTML code to put a link on your web site. Sean, you may be interested in putting this up in your new So Cal section...
Anyone know the name of the single anchorage west of 4th of July cove and East of Emerald?
Actually the anchorage I'm told is just west of Eel Cove, few hundred yards?

Catalina Island Fires
Firefighters from throughout the region battled a raging blaze on Santa Catalina Island on Sunday, using boats, helicopters and several hovercraft in an unusual mission to ferry crews and supplies to the popular Channel Islands retreat.
The Catalina fire was one of at...
I will be gunkholing and spending the nights in coves like Rippers, Goat Harbor and Gibraltar at Catalina over the holiday weekend. May end up at the isthmus for a night if I can get a can. Hope to see a few EYO's over there. Happy 4th!
We would like to organize a weekend rendezvous of Ericson 41s at the Isthmus in Catalina sometime this summer. We are in the process of a major refit of our 1971 E41, Sunshine, which we have owned since 1974, and would like to exchange ideas and sailing experiences with other owners. Let us...
I'm an Ericson owner on the Chesapeake bay and we'll be traveling to Carlsbad for Thanksgiving. We're thinking about chartering a boat and sailing to Catalina Island over the break. Thinking about a Friday or Saturday night in Avalon. Could use some advice - what port should we leave from...
I am letting all my Buddy's with boats know that the "Pride of Cucamonga" will be setting sail for Catalina on August 19th. We hope to find moorage at Avalon on Friday the 19th. We then plan to cruise up the coast of the island to Two Harbors and spend Saturday night there. We then will head...
Gathering of the So. Cal. Vikings at Two Harbors (Isthmus) on Catalina Island.
There has been a considerable amount of discussion about a Gathering of Ericson Owners under the post: "So. Cal. Sailors where are they". I have sort of taken the helm to try to organize a gathering at Two Harbors...
Just curious - Any Ericson owners out there going to be in Catalina for the Latitudes&Attitudes Cruising Club party in Two Harbors? I will be there with my wife and a birthday daughter (turning 19 on the 23rd) - Hope you can make it - There is info, I think, on the L&A web page -
I am curious as to the route people take when sailing from San Diego to Catalina. Direct seems a bit far for a lazy sailor like me. Up the coast to some convenient spot and then across seems a logical course, but I am interested in how those who have done it did it. Any lessons learned or...
We're going to Avalon for our first time on Friday, August 9. We're leaving early to get a better shot at a mooring. Should I expect any problems? Everyone I've spoken to doesn't seem to worry about it, but the whole 1st come 1st serve kind of makes me nervous.
I have flown too much this year, and am out of hours for the rest of the year. Avalon is looking good! This time of year, you pay for 2 nights, and get the next 5 free. Lots of room there; logon to www.catalinas.net and you can view the harbor live. I'll be on mooring 160-something (left side...

Hi Everyone,
Last year, my girlfriend and I sailed to Catalina in April and it was fantastic!! We sailed up from San Diego, to Dana Pt., slept over, then crossed the next morning. The Isthmus was all to ourselves, hardly any other visitors. We drank 'Buffalo Milks' for a week and goofed off...
