Ericson 38-200 main cabin hatch (Lewmar Superhatch) dimensions. This is a dimensioned drawing (DXF) you can use to cut a new sheet of acrylic. I also included the Fusion 360 file should you need to modify the drawing dimensions.
Acrylic sheet is 635mm x 635mm and 12mm thick. All measurements...
It's a long shot.. but if anyone has one available, please let me know! I would be interested in the fore hatch as well. I'm in Everett, WA, but willing to pay for shipping.
Hi all, I recently got my hands on a 1976 Ericson 23. I’m really excited to get some projects going on the thing.
I have some general questions before I get started and would really appreciate some feedback. To begin, what kind of wood is in the interior? I’m not totally sure if it’s teak or...
1972 E 35-2
Before I have again if anyone knows the exact proper nomenclature for this artifact on our boats I would appreciate the right name for it.
If I say the word hatch everyone thinks the entry hatch, if I say port light everyone thinks it’s one of the windows. It is the two overhead...
Hi all:
Can anyone suggest a shop in the Annapolis-Edgewater area that can repair a badly rotted anchor deck hatch? It's a small deck hatch on a 1990 Ericson 28. The wood core has rotted but the top non skid seems intact. I'm looking for someone to grind out the wood, replace it, and reglass...
Hello everyone. I am the proud new owner of a 76' 36-c that has a leaking teak hatch. Water is coming in through the seams of the laminated teak boards. I have tried varnishing but I am still getting leaks. Any ideas? Thanks from the Outlier
I'm looking to buy an E-29 Main Sliding Hatch, regardless of condition or shape. I have a woodworking friend that will make me a new one--but wants a template to use as a guide. I hate to lug mine off and on the boat, probably repeatedly, as this woodworker is good, but anything but fast.
I'm...
Hello All,
The hatch riser arms on my 1978 36C won't hold the hatches open any longer. I'm looking to repair (preferably) or replace the risers. Does anyone have information on who made the originals? Any source or recommendations on replacements?
Thanks,
Joe
After replacing the "O" rings on the hatch 'dogs' the smaller (13 x 17 inch) forward hatch is still leaking. The leak seems to be coming around the gasket between the metal frame and the (intaact/non-cracked) gasket. Is it possible to [I]carefully[I] remove the gasket from the acrylic lens...
I am rebuilding my hatch covers and was wondering if anyone knows where to get some strong glass. I saw a pic of wassail online. It had some nice slightly tinted hatch covers. I'd be grateful for any advise
Thanks
Barry
Had to show this picture off. This is my new sliding hatch that one of my fellow sailors at my marina made and installed today. But now it just makes me realize I need to do some more varnishing on the companionway slats!
I'm trying to tighten up my deck, stopping water leaks, and thought about trying to remove/reseal the companionway htch cover. Looks like a bear, I think I counted 48 screws, whitch I'
m guessing are all machined screws. Also need to take off the traveler. I removed the 6 nuts from each side...
It's time to replace one hatch on Penquin (35-2).
I'm a stickler for keeping my baby stock so I'll be using Acrylic. The original screw holes were counter sunk.
Would not it be safer to use a carbide Forstner bit first, then drill for the screws?
I would also consider a counter sink...
I've just bought a 1988 E-26 and need a replacement anchor-locker hatch cover. Any ideas where I might find one? Don Calcote (donc3317@gmail.com):esad:
My 1987 E26-2 jib sheets get caught under my closed front hatch when I tack. I might try to put two small 'guards' to fill the gap under the forward corners but before I try to make something, who out there already has this problem figured out? Joe.
My son and his wife are new owners of a 1977 Ericson 27. They are in need of a new companionway hatch. Would all or some other models share the same companionway sliding hatch? Do companionway hatches... of that vintage have identical dimensions? Could we use a hatch from other manufactures...
After a verrrrry long time trying to figure out something that would both look good and be functional as well as rugged, we finally installed latches on our new hatches. They work really well, keep the hatches dogged down, and don't look half bad.
We obviously haven't quite finished yet...
So there are a few things I want to update on my Boat, one of them is my front hatch (Above the head) It doesn't stay open because one of the hinges pulled out of the rotted wood.
I was thinking about just reusing the top plastic and making a new hatch with my mitre saw? I think it's pretty...
Does anyone know of a source for replacement screens for the old style Lewmar portlights on an E38-200? My 1988 boat has 12"x5" portlights.
I'd appreciate any advice.
Mike Jacker
I'm tired of waking up with the sun shining in my face when I sleep in the v-berth of our 38-200, so I'm looking at the Oceanair Skyscreen - Defender link below (about $40 cheaper than WM). Has anyone installed these - I think the hatch is a Lemar 60 as I recall. They have several different...
Yesterday I tacked a question onto an old thread titled, "Making a Sliding Hatch." Today I am starting a new thread, because it seems I may be facing a problem that might be specific to the E25. This morning I removed several of the pieces of teak from my hatch to see what might be between the...
We've built the new teak and acrylic hatches for Senta and are now looking for the best choices in latches. I just found the Seafarer Anti-Rattle Door Fastener at Jamestown and it looks like it might be just the right thing: http://tinyurl.com/ygoqkxs
The picture is kind of small but maybe...
Hi all,
I have a sliding hatch from an E-32 that I’m interesting in selling. I bought it from a friend that was parting out a E32 and I thought it might fit my E-29 or be relatively easy to cut down to fit. After receiving it, and taking a hard look at it—I will clearly not fit, and the cut...
I recall seeing a post(s) in mid to late 2007 regarding replacing the faux teak trim inserted around the inside perimeter of the hatchs but for the life of me I can't seem to get the search function to find them.
As I recall someone had, or was getting, a goodly amount of this trim (in...
Hi all,
This may be a tough question--but here goes anyway.
I have a friend that is parting out an Ericson 32 and has a teak sliding hatch cover that he would like to sell me.
Anyone know if it would fit or could be cut down to fit an Ericson 29?
He says it is "about 36 inches by 32 inches"...
Currently installing a windless and decided to paint the hatch underside. So i removed the hatch and noticed some excess moisture dripping from the edge and decided to do some investigative work only to fine the balsa core soaked. my question is, does this hatch require a core product for...
Hello All,
I have a leaking main salon hatch on my E38, the big 24" by 24" unit just aft of the mast. Its original, looks like its leaking from the frame seam, or catch rivets, bedding, etc. There is enough corrosion to warrant replacement. Does anyone know of a hatch that is a direct...
I have an E25CB without an inboard. The space under the cockpit sole currently only houses the water tank and battery box. Access is via a small door under the cabin steps. I'm considering ripping out the water tank/battery box and installing an access hatch or two in the cockpit sole. I'll...
Howdy all,
This is my first post, so please bear with me! I just purchased a '73 Ericson 27 ... to put it mildly, some areas have lots of "deferred maintenance." The hull, rigging, interior, and outboard were all fine (had it surveyed), but there are a few items that need some help (I got...
After sailing in some classic Lake Michigan chop and 20 knots of wind this past weekend I discovered that the forward hatch on my 1983 E28+ is leaking when there's green water on deck. Looking closely I can see that the rubber seal no longer contacts the hatch frame even when it's dogged down...
Does anyone know of a supplier for Lewmar hatch parts? I went to the Lewmar website and I have the part numbers. Apparently my 1983 E38 has Lewmar 'Superhatches'. I need at least one corner block (the thingy that holds the hatch down when you turn the handle.
I spoke with two of Lewmar's...
I've just built two new hatches for out '72, 35-II - pretty much the same design as original. Wooden box with new glass. Has anyone improved the hatch closure system. I'm sure there must be a better option than the original and I don't want to start drilling holes in the acrylic for the...
Hello all,
I was extremely excited when I logged on today and saw the thread listing a used E-27 companionway hatch on craigslist. Could I be that lucky? Unfortunately, I am a little late and the hatch has been sold.
While I doubt that another will become available soon, if anyone knows...
I replaced the Lewmar Superhatch on my 1987 E-34 this week and have the old hatch available if anyone is interested.
It is the Size 60, approximately 22" square with a flat base, no flange. The hinges need to have the rubber parts replaced for it to stay up reliably, the lens is crazed and...
