In the spirit of "the time to take measures to assure the safety of the vessel is before leaving port", I have been planning to better secure the covers to the lockers under the seats and V-berth in the cabin. I actually saw that @Kalia had done this in a nice way, if he sees this thread, but...
I'm thinking of cutting out the old propane tank locker in the port aft lazarette to create better access to the aft lazarette for stowage and inspection. Our boat is a 1988 E38-200. Does anyone have any experience with this modification?

Hi,
I want to rebed the bow pulpit and cleats, and can't really get at them from the underside due to the anchor locker being in the way. There is very little space between the anchor locker and the hull to get my hand and a wrench in there to the underside of the deck.
I am thinking it...
I've just bought a 1988 E-26 and need a replacement anchor-locker hatch cover. Any ideas where I might find one? Don Calcote (donc3317@gmail.com):esad:
I have purchased an Ericson 27 and I would like to know if anyone has put a hatch in the deck at the bow to store anchor rode in the little space that is in front of the vberth. I would like to have my anchor and rode accessible at the bow in case of emergencies. An anchor probably would not...
Hi Everyone,
I am currently about to buy a 1983 35III. We had the survey yesturday and found the front bulkhead (just below the anchor locker) is completely rotten and needs to be replaced. It looks like the anchor locker/deck joint failed and has allowed water to drip onto the bulkhead for...
Glyn you asked if my head pan fitting/drain leads to anything in the bilges like a sump or collection tank and no it does not and did not come with one either. Sven our shower curtain drapes over the toilet seat, we get nothing wet in the head but the shower pan. I guess that I got lucky...
My locker goes all the way to the bilge and is open to the engine (removed by PO) compartment. Needless to say, if you throw something in there, it goes a long. way. down.
Can anyone send along pics and designs of the original locker compartment config or any useful modifications?
Ok, for the life of me I can not remember if our boat has an anchor storage compartment on the front of the boat????? I searched all of my photos and didn't see one, can someone help me out.
1981 E38 anchor locker / bow cleats advice (PICTURES)
So as most projects go I started this with the intent of finishing in a day. I wanted to replace the forward bow cleats and re-bed all forward hardware. The PO has installed a custom aluminum bracket under the weak anchor pan. He wanted it...
It seems that part of my problem with water intrusion via the anchor locker was due to a cracked bronze pipe fitting that is supposed to hold the drain tube that exits water from the anchor locker out through the bow. The crack, in fact severed the tube leaving not enough area to properly hold...
Has anyone removed the anchor locker pan? I want to reseal and re-bed it and some cleats, bow rail, etc. and just like to know anyone else's experience.
Also, the drain is in the bottom and I'd assume it drains into the bilge?
Thanks
Does anyone know which models came with an anchor locker on the bow?
We have some repair work to do on the bow area and thought about putting in an anchor locker at the same time.
Hi all,
I'm wanting to mount my anchor on the outside of my E29 bow pulpit and lead the anchor line into the front bow locker. However unless I use the front fresh air cowl opening, I will need to cut a hole and mount some sort of hardware or access port. Any ideas on how to do it and what...
I must put in a propane locker on my 36C. The bottles are currently in the starboard cockpit coming locker which is not proper nor legal as is. My plan is to section off and seal the forward section of the coming locker and cut an access hatch down through the side deck, then vent overboard...
Hello all, I have an ericson 30+ 1980, the anchor locker on deck has a hole in it where the anchor chain exits, this oval shaped hole had a cover/cap over it approx. 4" X 3" in diameter, looked like stainless steel. I dropped it overboard accidentally and cannot find it! ugh!
Any advice on...
Does anybody know of a reason that there is no venting of the seat lockers in my E-27? Has anybody placed a vent or vents from the seat locker into the cabin? I have never seen seat lockers vented but cannot think of a reason they are NOT vented. Venting these lockers would help reduce...
I was cleaning out the hanging locker this spring and noticed that there is potentially a fair sized area under a plywood sheet. The end closes to the hull is fiberglassed in so I didn't take out the screws to look inside, so I'm wondering if anyone else has looked inside. Does anyone know if...
Does anyone else have a propane locker and tank like this? The propane bottle won’t fit in the box because the regulator pushes against the starboard side of the tank and you can’t push it back far enough to put the lid back on the locker. Picture three is what I’m using now but I would really...
Hello All,
My E38 is set up with an electric windlass and all chain rode. The challenge is that when the chain is coming in, it piles up on itself after it drops into the locker and tends to bind up the windlass. So, when weighing anchor we have to open up the v-berth and station someone down...
Hi I recently bought a 1984 35ft Mark III. During heavy rain the anchor locher floods, clearly I have a blockage in the drain for the locker.
Has anyone solved this problem before, if so any quick tips to share with a very excited new boat owner.
Thanks Gibbo
A couple of years ago, we had a thread on building a locker in an E35. Has anyone completed it yet?
My first thought is whether a horizontal or vertical mount would work best, since it would be much easier to build the locker with the tank already in hand, and I wonder what to buy.
And...
This weekend, I’m going to re-bed the anchor chain locker in my E26. I assume that the locker has a flange which is screwed into the recess in the deck. I’m pretty sure I have access to the back “wall” of the anchor chain locker through an access port that’s been installed in the teak bulkhead...
My anchor locker pan stiffening project continues to grow more complicated. Removal of the anchor locker pan yielded great access to the chain locker and the underside of the deck hardware. It also allowed a good inspection of the bulkhead dividing the v-berth from the chain locker. An obvious...
The floor of the anchor locker pan on my E35-3 flexes whenever I crank on the manual windlass that I have installed inside the anchor locker. I've been wanting to reinforce it as well as rebed it, since I have some leaks there. I also wanted access to the underside of the bow pulpit and bow...
I have a E38 with the two propane lockers built into either side of the helm seat. There is a fiberglass piece that sits over each locker. The lids are not secured in any manner so if you get knocked down or happen to set them somewhere they have a good chance of being lost over the side. Of...
While staring at down into my anchor locker on my '85 32-3 after cleaning it out this weekend I began to wonder what might be under there. Then I began to wonder how would I ever rebed the bow pulpit. So I thought I'd ask if anyone here has ever removed the anchor locker on a 32-3 or been able...
The saga continues...with the needed repairs of our new "old" 32-3. The anchor locker door is wet and spongy when walked on. A condition that I knew about during survey. I've rebuilt a rudder on a Hunter 285 (our old boat) so I'm not a stranger to ripping into a part of the boat. But it...
I installed some stainless steel locker latches after we got KOKOMO last year. We like these because they are flush, self latching, and have a primitive key lock for a little security. The starboard cockpit locker had a hasp but the lazerette lids previously didn't have anything.
The...
Hello All,
Well BoatUS sent me a nice letter today outlining all the things they had issue with from the survey on my "new" 1983 E38, that the surveyor "recommended" be fixed. They are all pretty easy and minor with one exception, the CNG bottle storage. The CNG bottle is in the lazzarette...
A small project I completed on our 71/E29 That made things easier:)
Our hanging locker doors were always in the way whenever we tried to get something out of the locker. The forward door was OK but the aft door always managed to get in the way when opened. It opened toward the main cabin...
Hi All,
Has anyone else converted the 'useless' wine locker on their 35/3? It doesn't seem to hold bottles of wine very well at all and my wife can see the potential for another storage cabinet in the galley! We can store about 20 bottles of wine behind the dinette seat backs on the port...
This spring I installed a vertical windlass in the anchor locker on my E35-3. The rode drops down into the forepeak. Everything works great but the floor of the ancor locker seems flimsy and moves up and down when I crank hard on the windlass. Has anyone beefed up one of these anchor lockers...

The last photo in that post, the one with all the Vikings standing on the dock, shows an Ericson in the foreground that seems to have a windlass installed in the forepeak anchor...
The older E 32 that I own is being refurbed since last year, and since the deck is being re-cored, my FBG man asked if I would like to install an Anchor hatch/locker? Has anyone installed a hatch, or should I install a chain pipe again.
Currently, I only have the forepeak locker under the...
It seems as the previous owner made some adjustments to the design of the anchor locker hatch cover, that are not verry appealing. I am looking for a esed hatch cover that someone may know about. Any help will be appreciated.
Attached is the summary picture of our little improvement project for the four cabin locker doors. With a few hours of work and about $30 in material the doors now look very nice and no longer seal in the stale air. I posted a write-up to the sailnet list earlier.

I have a 1988 E35-3, I have a significant leak at the compartment for the anchor on the bow. I have pulled off the headliner in the forward compartment and I've been keeping the area dry inside until I can rebed the locker. The previous owner has done this once already. Does anyone have any...
