I am not sure if this type of battery is common for boat usage, but did find the story interesting.
The person posting the story seems to be comparing the failure to AGM batteries, but I am not at all sure that the technology is closely related. I know that there are a number of battery wizards...
Ok, just wondering what the average age of everyone might be. Let's have an age followed by a short description how you got into sailing.
38, My father won three North American Championships, and a World cup in sailing. I never got to sail the bigger boats, but got to sand and clean...
After a long winter of mast repair, my boat finally went under wind power this weekend. I will admit I stared at the mast all day and listened to every creak that the boat made. I lost a total of 5" off the height. Total cost of the project was a few doolars shy of $600, all in materials...

Anybody know?

I ran across this story of these two young guys circumnavigating the globe in an Ericson 29 (Lets hope the sea gods continue to shine on them)
Check out their website www.trafficated.com
Check out this sailfish they landed
Ok - Since I started this, I thought I would be the first to contribute...
One of my favorite stories about sailing, anchoring and spending time on the hook is actually something I read in Latitude 38 while I was living and sailing in SF. The story goes like this:
Once upon a time, there...
