Am I the only one [active in northeastern USA]?

I am in Sayville, NY which is in the Great South Bay. I sail a 1988 Ericson 26 that I've owned for 33 years. It's gotten a bit old and tired (I wonder how that happened?) but I keep trying to find resources to help me bring it back to its old status. I remember when the Shelter Island rendezvous was. I was not able to make it and regretted not getting a chance to meet more of you and see other Ericsons, but would consider traveling to one in the future if it wasn't too far.

On my way to the Chesapeake Bay this weekend, I will be passing 40 miles off the Atlantic side of Long Island, I will wave to all you Ericson New Yorkers as I go by. Actually, I will be dropping into Shinnecock after leaving Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

Looking at decent weather and wind all weekend, expect to be in Barneget Bay Mid-Tuesday. A long rest before heading to Cape May, up Delaware Bay, cross the canal and into the upper Chesapeake. Time to contemplate life, enjoy mid-night diamonds on the water, and reminisce. The Rappahannock, Deltaville, and Stingray point marina are calling. Leaving Saturday with the tide.

Am I the only one active on here in the north east?

About 29 or 30 years there was a north east "Ericson Regatta" held at Shelter Island NY (between the forks of long island).

Perhaps those of us in the North East should consider doing something similar. Probably Shelter Island, New London, or someplace in Rhode Island would be good spots as they allow not too long of a travel time for folks from either side of those points.
I just saw this. I am a new Ericson owner in RI. I bought Daddy's Mink, an Ericson 28 formerly from Barrington and Narragansett. Im trying to get it up to speed after years of neglect.

hello Sidnewport,

First - there are several Ericson Yachts community members in New Port and one the just arrived anchored in New Port harbor off Ida May Lewis with a dingy tied up at King Park boat ramp. Angel will be in New Port between 17-23rd. If you are available, several of us will be meeting in New Port during this time.

Getting sailors together is like:

A few of us managed to meet recently, but it was very last minute and only a few folks I'd already met.

Sean, we'll let you know if something larger starts to coalesce yet this season. @mjsouleman and I have batted a few ideas back and forth, but, . . . it's a lot to coordinate. I have a lot of admiration for the PNW folks who made their rendezvous happen.

Oh, that's ok - it was really just a general notice/request - whenever - this year, next year, etc. We have plenty going on here to occupy my attention this season before the snow starts flying again anyhow...like more insulation in our attic...(fun!)....

Sean,

I have head one or two Ericson community members talk of sailing to Maine. what is the probability of there being a marina, a reasonable distance from you that might be used as a rendezvous? Who knows, there might be an interest in such a trip.

P.S. The next virtual meeting is being projected for Friday, September 26th.

Casco Bay and Mid-Coast are very nice, but if you could make it to Penobscot Bay, you'd be rewarded with some geat sailing. A bit up there, I know. Sadly, the Maine Ericson group disbanded shortly before I got my boat.

Meeta won't be stopped and loves Maine - so as long as there is somewhere reasonably close by we can get an accommodation, we'll be there. I would say the best would be no further north than Bath/Georgetown (makes about 3 hours from us by car - which is very reasonable...). How about in January?? =)

great ideas, with a starting point of Province Town, these are 3-5 day sails depending on anchoring or going straight thru.

The trips would make great adventures

We were previously members of the Maine Ericson Association before it broke up. We sail out of Casco bay and just finished two weeks on the boat going to Penobscot and back. Happy to provide any info I can for facilities in Maine. Once you get into late September and October the sailing is fantastic but the facilities start shutting down. Also seems odd to us.

we are in the Bath / Brunswick area when not on the boat if people are trying to get together.
