What has Mark done about the rode? It looked llike in his pictures that he had the rode running into the forepeak.

I'll agree...gas fumes in close proximity of electrical components = explosion.
Anyway, have a look at IMTRA's e-Bay auction for windlasses: Type in "Lofrans" in the search function and see if IMTRA has any up for auction. Currently, they have 19 new Lofrans Project 1000's windlasses for sale @ 999.00 (which is way up from the 600.00 I paid three years ago). They may have a minor scratch or a missing bolt, but at 50% off, it's not a bad deal. Or make a "Submit offer" and see what happens.
