Noisy head fixed

My wife was wondering why our head is so noisy in the new Ericson compared to the old Pearson. I explained that it was because the head inlet shares a through hull with the vanity outlet. After looking at it I came up with a solution. I simply screwed on a 1" PVC gate valve to the bottom of the vanity drain and used a 1" barb fitting on the other end to connect the hose. Now she can shut the valve to quiet down the head or to fill the vanity bowl.

It also acts a failsafe if the seacock should fail.

My 38 has a separate intake, but I like to flush the head with freshwater when I know I will not be on the boat for a few weeks. I installed a line between the sink drain and the head intake with a ball valve. Now I can close the seacocks, open the ball valve, turn on the water and flush. Another solution to your issue is to get a good rubber stopper for the sink drain. I used that on my columbia 28 worked great.
