Transom Thru Hull Replacement

I have the same transom thru hulls on my 911. Interesting how the sun just lights them up! Just a little downward pressure on those hoses can snap the fitting at the nipple if the plastic is to far UV damaged. I sure understand Loren's change to stainless here. I had one cracked and water filled the pan area under the diesel before draining into the bilge. Of course this happened on a rough and windy day coming back through the Ggate. I did not change to stainless because it would be too hard to grind flats to make the fittings fit in those cool looking recesses in the transom. Oh well. I think the Forespar fittings are better quality material.

I agree. I keep looking back at Loren's SS thru-hull pics and they are super nice. I'll have to ask him where he got them and if they are still available, but Marelon will likely last longer than I will!

Also, I should note we also experienced water filling the pan under the diesel when motoring for several hours. Maybe that is indeed my problem.

Familiar sight... ! Humor and Drama aside, once you get back in the stern with appropriate tools and a small dictionary of curses, it's really not that hard to do. BTW, those hoses look exactly like the old factory ones I removed. Please replace them. As to source, a quick 'net search for SS thru hulls finds quite a few to choose from.

Thanks Loren. When I google 1.5 inch diameter SS thru hulls, I see a bunch of different ones and the price varies a lot. Is there anything I should be aware of to narrow my search? or I may just see if Sextons has them locally. I will first try 'worming' my way down there for a look!

I would tend to trust Sextons, as well as WM. Web sources can be good or sketchy (like some of the Amazon stuff for example).
I do prefer all-metal stuff from Groco, Attwood, GemLux , etc.
