Well that was a silly question on my part, I had to fight my way past security stuff to get into a 25 year old Yahoo mail account, I use google now, and of course there are 45 Ericson e-mails in the in-box.

We do plan to attend, but it will have to be via vehicle . We need to find a motel within easy walk of the appropriate part of the marina.
We've been debating on if it's almost time for a repower and have been going thru all of your blogs. Thank you so much for all the time you have taken to pass on all your valuable information! We look forward to meeting you and everyone we have learned so much from!

Dave,
I am back from my extended vacation(s), and checking my email I don't see anything about paying for the upcoming weekend. Do I contact Cap Sante directly? Just tell them I'm with the rendevous and give them my name? Sorry to be asking so late in the game.

Kevin

Correction: Called them just now, everything is taken care of and they've already assigned my slip. Good Job!

Transportation Requested: Saturday, July 12 late afternoon/early evening: FROM Anacortes To Seattle. One sailor (me.)
This may ENCOURAGE some Ericson owners who do not plan to voyage to the rendezvous and might rather drive the old fashion way. In particular, I will personally encourage anyone to join. If you can join AND provide me with transport... Bonus!
Our vessel, MORNING RAIN, will stay with crew, Johann, until he departs with vessel back to Seattle after Rendezvous... that's the plan for now. :)

Hi Dave,
Turns out we won't be coming on the boat. We are new empty nesters, which means our crew is off seeking their own adventures. Amanda, who was up till now responsible for everything below decks, has sailing lessons this weekend. I might drive over from Bellingham just to see all those Ericsons in one place.

I'll be driving back Saturday afternoon but I'll need to leave no later than 3 pm.

Got engine issues? We do. Today, our day 2 of 2 Transit days, our M25 Universal diesel showed signs of of overheating (165-190 normal). Symptoms simply began after overnighting in LaConner heading north. (Dramatic drop in volume of water being exhausted; temp gauge indicating increased temps with higher RPM: 175, 180, 190.)
We stopped (long story) and did the following:
1. Removed/cleaned raw water intake filter.
2. Removed and inspected hose between filter and impeller.
3. Forcibly pumped water (in reverse) via impeller hose through open intake valve/out thru-hull fitting.
4. Coolant and oil are at normal levels.
We may...
-shallow dive to finger thru hull.
-inspect , remove ; flush heat exchanger.
-inspect amd flush all hoses.
-remove and inspect impeller assembly.
Etc.
Rendezvous attendees get first-round dibbs at trying to solve mystery.

Oh no! I had my water pump go out on me the night before a 9-day Gulf Islands trip last year. I hadn't replaced the anode in the
exchanger and corrosion ate the pump. Exact same engine as you have.

We can't make it down tonight but are planning on leaving in the morning and arriving mid-day. I saw that Wildfire's slip assignment may have changed - is there still a spot for us?

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg
The marina did some shifting of slips. I saw you were in C-52 but latest from marina today showed C-58. Best give them a call in morning to confirm space available. Did you cancel slip for today?

S/V Sagres
Hi All,

Hope everyone has a good time! Sadly, Sagres is still on the hard. But she will be vastly more seaworthy once back in the water!

In the end, we’re getting a new stainless steel strut fabricated, then glassed in. Once that happens, and the whole thing (with the engine) is aligned, then we can start putting everything back together again.

But I guess we’ll have something to talk about next year, hah.

It was great to meet everyone on Saturday and enjoyed all your boats. Looking forward to seeing you on the water and next year. Thank you to the organizers. Really appreciate your efforts.

And Cheers to you both! There was a bit of dignified imbibing at Anacortes, as well.
(Modern "vikings" appear to be far less combative than the ones in the Norse legends....)
The seminar on fishing for salmon from a sailboat was (much more) interesting than I suspected that it would be. And Tom's "Cliff Notes" version of his ten year resurrection and major upgrading of his classic Ericson 30-1 was really well received. He then sailed it from SF to Anacortes, single handing. Now I can say that I have met another sailor who has "wrung more water out of his socks than I have sailed over!" :egrin:

The Boat Visits went quite a bit longer than the estimated time slot in the schedule, and everyone really seemed to enjoy just hanging out and asking questions of other owners.

I took a few pix, but am strictly an amateur. I hope that others will post up more/better boat pix and some from the happy hour and pot luck. Please let me know if I have misidentified a boat, also.

Great seeing everyone yesterday!

And, no offense to the others, but... that E41 was the belle of the ball. What lovely lines!

BTW, I meant to mention yesterday.... if it was not already known, Bruce King is being inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame this year. I sent a note of congratulations to him, and expressed how much I enjoy my Ericson. If anyone else would like to do same, PM me and I'll provide his mailing address (it's not his home address, so hopefully that's within the bounds of respect for privacy and propriety... and I'm sure he would enjoy hearing how much we all enjoy the lovely boats that he created...)

I wish I would have thought to take more pictures.

Thanks, everyone, for a really nice weekend. Already looking forward to next year, in Canada.

Laurel and I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting a great group of people. The tour of the boats gave us many ideas on how to upgrade our 35-3. I exchanged contact info with a few folks, but missed many. If anyone want's to establish direct communication drop me a private message and I'll share our contact info. We had to motor the entire way back to Blaine, but it was pretty pleasant, the little diesel did it's job and the weather was nice.
