The new dodger is on. The new clutches and larger winches are in place.
This is a newer fabric, "RECacril" that is rated better than "Sunbrella" for weave integrity and QC. Since cost is about the same, and the canvas shop has been having great luck with it, we decided to give it a try.
This...
One more close up of the new flange that better shows the G10 fiberglass plate.
I used some 3/16" scrap to make up this piece, and it took four pieces. They were joined with an overlay of two layers of light glass cloth on each side. Total thickness ended being about 1/4". For a light duty...
A friend just emailed me about this ad. Haven't seen the boat but the list of sails and upgrades is very impressive. The listing is in the Classifieds on Sailing Anarchy. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/classified.htm

Does anyone have an owners manual for the O34? I've looked through the Resources here and there is an E34 manual, but the E34 and the O34 are different. I scrubbed the web and come up empty handed. I'm hoping there's an owner out there with a copy of this manual.
Nice photo today of Paul Nielsen in his Olson 34. Slow going at present.

BTW, interesting to see a good ol' reliable hank-on jib used for this event.

I would like to know the headroom in the Olson 34 in the main cabin. I am 6'2" and would not want to walk around in anymore of stoop than I currently have. Additionally, I was wondering if the back berth in the O34 is open or does it have a door for privacy? Finally, does the O34 have an...
Just in case anyone needs this answer to win a trivia contest...
I have now cut out the tabbing on the plywood piece that held in the aft (factory option) water tank that mounts under the port seat hatch.
Turns out that it is an exact duplicate to the inside water tank under the starb. settee...
It's a long shot, what with only 39 boats built and only a handful registered here....
But, has anyone done a forced air furnace install on one of these boats? Or any similar size boat??
One of these years we would like to have a furnace in place...
I have seen one O-34 with a hydronic system...

I have no interest, financial or otherwise... but finding any of the 39 of these that were built for sale is rare.
From the photos, it appears very...

Check out this great photo from the Latitude 38 site, today April 12.
Some of us talk about blue water sailing and sometimes even ocean racing...
Instead of dreaming, Bruce just keeps solo-racing that Olson!
Way to go!

Listmates, I have rod rigging on my 1989 Olson 34 (built by Ericson). The leeward shrouds are pretty loose, though the mast seems to stay in column. I don't suppose tension gauges work for rod rigging. How do I decide how tight the rods should be?
Thanks in advance,

Listmates, I have a 1989 Olson 34 with a Universal M25XP 23 h.p. diesel engine. It has been quite reliable. For better or worse, the only service I've done is changing the oil twice a year, changing the zinc in the ?heat exchanger, and changing the fuel filter. Now, the engine puts out black...
