It will help me and perhaps others deep into Head/Waste handling on their 80's Ericson's and Olson's to have some previous information pulled together. The referenced threads date from before I started using this site's blog capabilities. The EY.org Blog section is, to me, a very useful part of our site that allows tighter focus on project narratives and thus makes searches a bit easier.
The whole "waste management" system on our boats seems to interest new site members as they have to deal with 30+ year old plumbing, valves, tanks, and connections. All these parts break down/wear out after so many years. Renewal is not technically too difficult, but access to the parts of the systems is often tough.
(I am fairly certain that EY had several short, strong, and wiry guys that put in these systems in such tight spaces during the final built-out.)
And for all we know, some of the hose runs and thru hulls were in place before the cabinetry was installed.
I would like to invite you all to use the comments section here to insert other head plumbing threads that seem relevant. Unlike the hoses and other parts, this subject will never get "old"... i.e. the info and solutions will be at least somewhat useful for many years into the future.
To lead off, there is this thread:
I am working on an updated report, having recently converted our "standard" head to a larger oblong "household" bowl. Like just about all boat projects, it got more complicated as I got into the details. (Big Surprise)
For one thing, I could not use the original mounting holes for the base..... and there were other facets to consider as well.

New Holding Tank, Piping & Valves
Tank News Here is a short update now that I have photos available. One with the demolition started and the other with new tank in place. The Rotozip and an old chisel were involved, along with some swearing. There will be more posted later to show the pump-out manual option being restored...
