    12V Diesel Fuel Pump ?

I am in the process of installing a BETA 920-25hp diesel auxilliary and want to install a new fuel pump and keep the old FACET pump for a spare. The only pumps I can find are Facet-Purolator and Walbro  Anyone recently replace a fuel pump ? Would appreciate a heads up on this...

    Trouble removing fuel tank

Help! I've started removing the original fuel tank from my 84 28+, and have run into the problem of the glassed in aluminum tabs not allowing me to remove the tank. I've cut away the plywood from the back, starboard, side of the tank, and can rock the tank up a few degrees, but it won't go any...

    Fuel tank for 28+

I am just beginning the shopping process for a new fuel tank for my 28+ and have come across a curious problem. My current tank, which is original, is mounted on the starboard side and is therefore shaped to fit the side of the boat. Also therefore, all the input and output devices are mounted...

    Mechanical fuel pump modification

Hi! I came across on the internet an interesting inovation for the AC Delco mechanical fuel pump. By removing the upper assembly (fuel bowl attachment? and installing a cap upper assembly. Hope this makes sense. This eliminates the fuel bowl, and leaks. Anyone out there try this?? I saw...

    Ethanol and Fiberglass fuel tanks

Below is a URL to an article in Boat US concerning the gasoline additive Ethanol and its reaction with fiberglass fuel tanks. For all of us with A4's this additive may be of some concern. Seems the Ethanol has a reaction with fiberglass and causes a sludge to build up in the tank which can cause...

    E35II Fuel Tank Replacement

Here is progress on fuel tank replacement for the 74' 35II. Went with 3/16 welded alluminum and electronic (Centroid) fuel sender. The new tank fit easily in to the original footprint with an additional 18 GA. I just increased the height by 10" and went from 22GA to 40GA. Hope this helps...

    Fuel Tank Removal E 38-200

How hard is this one? I want to thoroughly clean out the tank as I am getting sludge in my primary filter. Other option is to have someone like Petroscrub come and clean it but cost is not yet known. Assuming the tank is emptied how hard is it to physically get it out of the boat? Thanks...

    Fuel Cell Technology

One of the things you see from time to time in boating papers is emerging technology for sailboat power using fuel cells. As far as I can figure out from an internet search, it will be several years before they are available for repowers on an affordable basis. Does anyone know anything more...

    E-27 Fuel Tank replacement

The fuel tank in my E-27 has decided to store its diesel in my bilge. It appears that 30 years is the life of the aluminum tank. I have followed the old threads on this and am now looking for the answers to the questions that have been raised. 1) While I have measured every dimension I am not...

Need specs on 1973 E27 Fuel Tank

I pulled my fuel tank and took it to a local "tank shop" for a new one. They LOST the tank. $%^&*(( I took approx dimensions of the exterior, but not location of the filler opening. I looked at the docs in the Specs/Docs section and none for the fuel tank. Anyone got a drawing? If...

    Fuel Pump

I have had internittent problems with my Universal M-12. It would start and then die, start and die. Recently, when this happened, I went below and listened to the fuel pump (new in 2002), and it was making a high-pitched ticking sound. I rapped it lightly with a hammer, and the ticking...

    35-III Fuel Tank

For anyone who has changed the fuel tank on 35-III .. Is there a specific size / model that you used that did not require any modifications ? and / or ... If you went custom - do you have a copy of the drawing you used (I'm not sure the 35-II drawing I have is accurate - and I no longer...

Fuel filters - before or after

I'm having some problem with my atomic 4. It will not run very long. The problem seems to be fuel. When I bought the boat (May 2004) I put in a new fuel tank, fuel lines, and new Racor filter. I replumbed the line and put the filter before the pump, suction side, as most say is best. I kept the...

    Fuel capacity of E34 (1987)

The specs call for 30 gallons. However even after I installed a new fuel sender, it seems that it is more like 20 gallons. I admit I have not taken the fuel to Empty and then filled back up. I have however gotten to 2/3 empty and filling back up supports 20 gallons. Is it possible that the...

Replacing fuel tank on 1973 E27

I'm having a lot of problems with either rust or varnish in my original 15 gallon steel tank. I've decided to replace it for greater confidence on trips. The tank is 10" high X 16" wide X 24" long and located between the engine and rudder post. The long dimension is across the boat...

    E-27 fuel tank

I have a 76 E-27 with the split cockpit and unfortunately a leaky fuel tank. In searching the threads, I found 1 listing for a retro fit tank as the original tank will only come out with the assistance of a sawsall. The tank that was suggested, had a depth of only 7". That seems to me to asking...

    Ericson 38-200 fuel tank

Hello, I am hoping that someone out there knows where I can find a replacement fuel tank for my 38-200. It was manufactured by Custom Marine in Huntington Beach, CA in 1989. It is a 54 gallon aluminum tank, number 1722. I have had no luck finding the company that made it, and I am hoping that...

White smoke and un burnt fuel slick from my Yanmar at higher RPMs

White smoke and un burnt fuel slick from my Yanmar at higher RPMs I have a little 8 HP Yanmar 1GM10. As you may know it is easy to bump the throttle up in the cockpit of a E-27. I had a crew member accidentally kick it up to over 3000 rpm and soon after it started knocking and I noticed...

    Adjustment on fuel tank gauge

Incorrect fuel tank gauges seems to be common problem. My 1987 E34 tank is supposed to hold 30 gallons. When I fill up the gauge will move only slightly until I crank up and then it moves begrudgingly to close to full but not quite. I use 11 gallons and the gauge shows slightly less than half...

    Ericson 38 fuel gauge location

Can anyone tell me where the fuel gauge is located for an Ericson 38-200 (or if it is an "option" that may or may not be present)? I have an 89 E-38-200 with a Universal Diesel. I've located the fuel tank, but can't seem to locate the gauge. Thanks in advance, Carol

    Fuel flow 'phantom' problem

    fuel filters

What is the appropriate primary fuel filter / water separator for our 20 hp diesel? Is 10 micron right? 30 micron? Is trasparant bowl ok or does CG require metal? The marine stores stock plastic, but the Raycor website talks about metal for marine use. What's up with that? Thanks...

    Securing Fuel Tank

Hi all, The fuel tank in my E-35 Mkll is not strapped in. Currently its V bottomed shape conformes to the hull's stern shape and two peices of 2x2 wood epoxied to the hull on each side of the tank keep the tank nesseled in snuggly. The fuel fill hose is the only force pushing the tank down...
