    Shore power

Hi all. So as I was cleaning the bilge on the E35 I grabbed a corroded and crumbling electrical wire. It's my shore power line! So I need to completely overhaul all A/C connections. I need to know what supplies to use and could use a wiring diagram. Any direction?

    Adler Barbour power plate

I have the pictured refrigeration evaporator plate and lines that came with my vessel. I think it is R-12, because of its age, but cant say for sure, it is fully charged. I contacted Adler Barbour in Pompano Beach FL via e-mail with the serial # 22636 asking about type of charge and they were...

Low RPM and sudden loss of power

Yesterday when taking our 1987 E28 out, the engine would not rise above 2200 RPM. She is normally capable of well over 3000 RPM with the manual quoting 3600, though I'll never test it. I typically don't ever force her above 2600 RPM, which is at the low end of the manual's cruising...

E25 cb handling issues under power

Hello, Just purchased a 1973 E25 cb. The boat came with a 9.9 outboard. Took the boat out for the first time in 20-25 knot winds and moderate chop. The boat was difficult to steer, heeled between 10 & 15 degrees and was almost impossible to bring into the wind. I didn't feel safe enough to motor...

    Power Boat Explosion

All this happened at about 0920 yesterday, a couple hundred feet from my boat, as I discovered when I visited later in the afternoon. Lynn is port capt at our YC, and John moors his boat in front of ours, and was there by coincidence. One of the staff at Rogers Marine Electronics told me later...

M25 Diesel lost top-end power after service

After sitting for about 2 years with diesel fuel biocide and additives, I hired a diesel mechanic for preventive maintenance which included: Adjust the valves, check the injectors and generally inspect the motor. Afterwards, the motor in neutral spins to 2,900 rpm but only 2,200 under load...

12v Power Supply verses using batteries

I have removed the partly rusty rats nest of wires encased in wasp nests. Rebuilding everything. On paper I have planned to use a 12 volt power supply when tethered to shore power. This reduces the cycling on the house batteries. To my surprise the marine box stores doesn’t carry 12 volt...

    Barient/Barlow power ratios

http://www.bitwrangler.com/wt/winches.shtml I was looking around the web for a way to compare these with today's winch nomenclature. Nowadays winches are spec'd out with the final power ratio, with a 10" handle. (Or at least that's what the ads say and they never mention friction loses.) I saved...

    Power Film Solar Panel

Anyone have experience with these? I know they don't provide the amperage of rigid panels, but I'm just looking for something to offset a few hours of interior light use while summer cruising... http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|328|49497|1154318&id=1207022

Turning the engine over (w/o power)

Hey everyone. First post. I live in Seattle Wasington (shillshole bay) and have a 1976 E29 with an atomic 4. Unfortunately i had an incident where water got aboard the boat and managed to get in the crankcase. I changed the watery oil and added new oil and magical mystery oil per Don Moyer's...

    AC Power

I would like to install a xentrex 3000w invertor I was given, but I'm not sure how. Idealy I would like to have the inveter power the existing AC system when not under shore power. We don't run alot of AC items but if my wife would like to use the hair dryer, or microwave on the hook who am I...

    Re- power 1986 35-3

I'm thinking of replacement our orginal 21hp universal with a M-35B. Has anyone used this model with success. Thanks, Thomas

GFCI wierdness (shore power in the cabin)

I have a GCFI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Residual-current_device) circuit in my boat. It supplies all the 3-prong 115V AC outlets from shore power. I plugged in a LCD TV and it worked just fine for weeks. Then, Sunday morning while I was watching the firestorms on the TV news, the GFCI...

    shore power cost

I'm wondering how many Harbors charge an extra fee if you keep your boat plugged into shore power while no one is aboard. If people could post what their Harbor's practice is regarding shore power use that would be very helpful. Thanks, Mark

    Vibration under power

I'm new to this game as a 1st time boat owner and loving my 1977 E32. It has an Atomic 4. The boat has spent it's life on the Great Lakes and is now in Milwaukee. I have a vibration under power that begins to be noticable at about 1,700 RPM. At 2,000 the vibration is seemingly 4-5X the...

    Sticky Power Cord

I don't know if this is a local problem or not. After a few years of use my power cord, the cord that supplies shore power to the boat, gets this black sticky residue on it. I have no idea where it comes from and it only seems to occur on the area of the cord that is in use, not on the area...

Power Outtage - DC Panel - Fuse?

Cabin lights, radio and all DC Low Voltage power worked fine until coincidentaly a friend attached his invertor. Battery worked fine, Motor started OK and engine worked fine, just no panel lights or DC power. Could it be a fuse that went out? Any other ideas?

E36RH Prop Strut Movement; and excessive 'pull' to port under power

I purchased a 1982-E36-RonHolland last October. The prop strut is loose: with sideways pressure it will move about 1/8" to starboard, then return when the pressure is released. Does anyone have a drawing of the shape of the strut and how it is installed. It appears to be glassed in, with no...

Hard Pull to Port Under Power - New Repower

:esad: HELP: HARD PULL TO PORT UNDER POWER>>> After a year of unreliable service and constant problems from my old Yanmar seawater cooled 2QM20, I finally bit the bullet and instructed my mechanic to swap it out for a brand new Yanmar 3YM20. Rather than a return to reliable operation, I have...

    Ample Power alternators and regulators?

Hello All, I am currently researching upgrading my alternator and regulator on my '83 E38. After doing a bit of reading it seems worth my while to go with a true "marine" alternator and smart regulator. I have looked at the Balmar product but it is pricey and I get the feeling that I am...

    Waterway Power Center experiences?

Anybody ever use these guys? They seem pretty top notch... just curious what the experience was like. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post it here. Thanks, Chris

    Power loss

My Universal M12 starts, but will not throttle up much past idle. Recently, dark soot has been visible with the exhaust cooling water. Air intake is clean. I've checked fuel flow at the bleed valve and it appears fine. Could I have an exhaust back-pressure issue? Thanks Greg 1988 E28

Lost power to Universal engine panel

Hi All, We were out yesterday sailing & on the way home I glanced at the engine panel to check RPM, temp, oil pressure and charging. I did a double take because at first I noticed the tach reading only 5000 rpm, then I noticed all of the other gauges were dead. Silly me - I thought well...

    Power Inverter

I was just given a new in box Vector Power Force 1000 power inverter from a friend who decided not to use it. I want to put it in my 1980 Ericson 30+. Question 1. Should I only connect it to one battery? I don't want to hook it up to both and then find I have run both down. Question 2. Do...

    Ericson 38-200 electrical power mods.

Hi again everyone, In my last thread of a few moments ago, I was asking questions concerning the addition of refrigeration to my 1989 38-200. My next concern is related to my electrical power system and it's ability to maintain the frige system. I currently have 2 group 27 batteries wired...

    electric auxiliary power

Does anyone know anything about using electric for auxiliary power? Has anyone here installed a system? I need a new outboard and the idea of an electric motor is intriguing. This would be for my E23 mk1, so it's just a tiny little hull to push through the water. Thanks, Mark

    Loud Harmonic Hum Under Power

since we purchased AZGARD last april we were driven crazy by this sound at 1400-1900 rp and have learned that two p.o. had same problem. Sept this year we replaced original M-25 universal diesel with a NEW universal XPB 25 and much to our horror we have the very same noise at 1400-2000 rpm...

    Power for E25

Since I am in the process of rebuilding my '73 E25, I am going to replace the aging 8hp 4 cycle Honda outboard. I am thinking of moving the outboard to a bracket mounted on the port side of the transom and using a 6 hp, 4 cycle Mercury or Yamaha. The current 8hp pushes me along very easily and...

Poor steering under power on my 1973 Ericson 27'

I recently hauled the boat and replaced the plastic bushing around the rudder post, installed a new prop, but now the tiller pulls pretty hard to port. Any ideas on how to correct this? The boat was hard steering before. Problem seem to happen mainly under power. Is there a way to adjust...

    Outboard Auxiliary Power Sizing

I was wondering if anyone has any info on the recommended horsepower size for the outboard in my E26? It came with an Evinrude 9.9 Hp. and it is rather cumbersome in the cockpit, If I ever need to replace it with a 4 stroke I don't think it would fit.
